I'll be graduating from college on May 15th (Yippee!!!). I'm trying to figure out how to wear my hair withough looking crazy in my cap. Suggestions? Does anyone have pics of how they wore thier hair for graduation?

I wore my hair in a bun for my HS Graduation a couple of years ago... Everything else looked crazy... Those stupid caps are not curl friendly =/

I am graduating May 16 and I am trying to figure out what I'm doing too... I am thinking I want to do side swept curls... I really don't wanna bun... cause I bunned for undergrad graduation and I dont want my pics to look exactly the same LOL

I am gonna take all my hair from my Twist N Curl and pin it to the side to create a cascading look.. Im gonna practice before the big day so I'll post pics of my results soon

If that doesn't work then a bun it is .. I guess..

Maybe a twist out would allot the hair to fit under the cap... but wont look at poofy as a wash & go...

You guys are inspiring me... I'm going to try a few things out and make a video on youtube with my old cap and gown...

I don't think it will be ready in time for you guys... but i'll try!!!

Lol! My son just sat his cap on top. (I know, unacceptable but quite funny!)

How about flat twists / twistout? Does you hair have "hang"?

Shawnette! I didn't even know you had a child that age! I thought you were like 24 or something! And that pic is great. I might end up doing that if I can't find a style lol. My hair doesn't have any hang, it has "out" lol. There are some recent pics on CulryNikki's blog.

ND: Hmmm I thinking a twistout might work. Maybe with flat twists in the front? Like Shawnette's pic?

ML: I wish I had enough hair for a bun!

Those flat twists are a great idea...
You guys don't mind if I use some of these ideas in my videos? I'll make sure to give credit where credit is due!

How long is your hair? If it's 5 or 6 inches, you can slick it back into a French Roll, or buy (or make) one of those fake buns. Some of them look really authentic.

If I'm on day 2 or 3 hair, I'll run some aloe or something through my hair (moisture) then 'smoosh' it down from the roots and put on my cap. This method is easier to do with a stretchy satin cap.

Edited to add:

I was just searching for a pic for you and came acroos this blog. Scroll down to the pics of her with the purple cap. That's exactly what it looks like, except I do twist, not braids:

My hair doesn't hang well and I did a twistout back when I walked. I should have thought about it more and done some pinning because it was sticking out in funny, poofy ways from underneath the cap. I should also add that I have a large head along with the volume in the hair. Pinning it low to the neck like somebody said above or just bunning it would've definitely come out better.
layer cake of tight, spongy and silky/thready S strands that kink more than they coil
spiced with a few spiral coils and non-curling waves
mostly medium and fine with a sprinkle of coarse strands
protein is yummy
thanks for reminding me about my graduation ladies..... And thanks dad for telling to walk.....

i have short hair (4 inches). no hang, no nothen except for a bunch of curls, coils and frizzy patches
I think you should straighten and I would never say that for anything, not even a wedding, but cap and gowns are not curly friendly at all they smush down the hair on top and make the bottom puff out to no end, and by the time the ceremony is over the top will be flat and matted and the bottom all puffed out, so when you take off the cap your hair will be a mess.

Currently trying to formulate the perfect styling pudding. Once that happens all other things left over will be thrown out, given away. From then on I'm only buying to RESTOCK.

i wore a a fro w/ flat twists for my graduation

the top was flat enough for the cap to stay on although i needed the help of a few large pins. and it slipped quite a bit but i looked flyy

I did very small twists on my hair while my hair was still wet and took them out right before heading out for the graduation. I pinned the cap on my hair. I could not stand how it looked on my face.
Sorry about the huge pic, but I kept resizing and it wasn't getting any smaller.

Fleurtzy, Love it. If I can exercise enough patience, I will try to put in small twists this weekend......kind of like a trial to see if I like it.

Very cute pic Fleurzty!

Shawnette your son's pic is too funny.. I don't think I have what it takes to pull off that look

flat twists are a good idea but I don't like them on me.. I wish I could.. I love them on other people, but I feel like when I wear them I'm looking like someone from "Set it Off"

congrats on your graduation!

for my hair, ive found that in order to not look like bozo the clown, i have to tuck my hair behind my ears or have my hair going back (which still results in a similar look to hair tucked mehind the ears).
Haha! this reminds me of my sister's graduation pic. That cap looked so awkward clinging to the top of her head with her curls billowing out underneath! I wish I could post the pic, but she'd probably kill me.

Sorry, I know that wasn't helpful in the least.
