Default Texture Change with MSM

Hey ladies, I'm new on here and I have a question. Have any of you experienced a change in texture while using MSM? I've been taking it religiously for about 3 months now and I can see a definite change in my hair texture. I've also used henna quite a bit and I know that has a loosening effect, but geesch my hair used to be really kinky, coily, curly and now the curls are really loose. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

I'm not sure but it seems as if it might be kind of hard to tell which one is loosening your curl since you're unsure if it's the henna or the MSM. I honestly don't remember my hair loosening when I used MSM, but henna might have more of a loosening effect on your hair than you know. Bumping for more.

I'm taking msm (for a recuring knee injury) and I'm noticing that my new growth is coming in softer...its not loosing the curls by a long shot, but it does feel softer

hmm... I'll be watching this particular thread carefully. I've henna'd for a long time now and had some slight loosening, not much to be concerned about. However, recently (March) I started using Qhem's BRBC and alma heavy cream and now (May), I've noticed my crown, usually very tight and dry, is very very loose. As a matter of fact my entire crown lost its curls! I mean nothing just slight wave- ~ its almost straight! I'm not sure if its the henna or MSM either. I didnt realize MSM could loosen your curls. Ive clarifed w/ real clarifying shampoo. Deep conditioned and still no curls.

Hope we can get some advise and other testimonials.

It's really hard to say what is doing what when you are doing several things at once. I took a 3 week henna break recently and I was taking MSM during. My new growth does feel silkier and softer, but I'm not sure if that's just the MSM and biotin or caramel treatments I started during that time. So I'm not much help. I suggest stopping one and just doing the other to see what happens to really find out the culprit. Personally I only noticed henna loosening the first time I used it after that it never happened again especially since I used more alma with it. But that's just me, different heads react differently it may very well be the henna.

Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), also known as dimethyl sulfone, is an organosulfur compound with the formula (CH3)2SO2.
