Crocheted Hair New Pics 11/4/10

Like Tree1Likes

So as some of you know, I was contemplating trying to do my own kinky twists but while I am waiting for my hair to come, I was still wanting to do something to my hair new. I wanted a little break and after talking with some members on kinky twists, some gave me the idea for crochetting my hair. Not the braids but doing it with hair, I watched some vids on how it looked since I already know how to crochet and I decided, wth and tried it today. I had my sister do it for me, she doesn't really braid but she did good and it took about 3.5 hours since she took her time on braids. I used only 1.5 packs of hair($3) and I like it.

Here are some pics, more in my fotki...

So tell me what you think. It's different. I used the Vatika to oil my hair in between the braids and around the front. I like it, its like braids but its like hair...I was expecting a more hair look but this is good too.

These are great!! I was just talking to my sister about getting some crochet braids/hair. She has some crochet micros right now that everyone thinks are real micros but they only took like 2.5 hours!

I wonder if I can show her some Youtube videos so she can do these on me...

The lady that does hers charges $90. All her friends say this is too much for a crocheted style. What do you all think an appropriate price would be?

^^The style is so easy, the hair is super cheap, if you do the hair type, you only need two packs, I used 1.5 packs. The hardest part in doing this is the cornrolling part, you will need to do them straight back and as small as you can, try to do like 18, my sister only did 12 on me but the more cornrolls, the smaller the spaces in between, the less hair you need to put on each braid and it won't look bulky.

The crochetting part is easy, just take the needle/hook, and insert it under your braid with the latch open, so open latch and stick it under you braid, take the hair, fold it in half and put it on hook and then close latch, pull hook back out your head, with the braid attached, pull the bottom ends through the loop at top of braid and then knot, done. It's like 5 seconds a crochet....not long at all. Some of mine at the top, she did two pieces in one, for thickness. She didn't fill in my whole braids, especially on sides so it didn't looks bulky.

Here are the vids I watched

Napp,
The hair I used is very different than the hair the ladies in the vid used. They used the Fortress Water Wave for a more bulky curly hair look... where I went, they didn't have this hair or I didn't see it, so I went with a Brand called Graces and the style is Super ZiZi, this hair is already pre-sized and if you try to seperate it, it will tangle up too bad so I just put mine in, they are really small as you can see. There were about 4 brands with the same curl pattern so any one is ok and it comes with a LOT in one pack. One whole pack would have done my hair if thats all I had.

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE COMPLIMENTS....I went out today to my nieces school family picnic and everyone kept saying how nice my hair looked, someone ever asked if I could do theres....lol.

Hey girls. Just wanted you to know that if you go looking for this specific needle, it's not a crochet hook, it's a latch hook used for making those furry pillow designs and small rugs.
