For all the ladies that were new to ayurvedic treatments how are things going for everyone? Are you noticing any significant changes?
My basic mix has been Amla (the largest ratio), Brahmi, & Bhrinraj. Sometimes I'll throw in Kapur Kachri. With this combo my hair feels and looks the best.
For me my hair does retain moisture much better (as nappyrican just mentioned) I don't have to use as much product and that's a plus for me because I tended to be heavy handed. Not anymore. My hair definitely feels softer. I'm not sure that it's getting thicker it actually looks thinner to me but I'm not sure if that's my non-thick hair having complex. In someway I almost feel like my hair is depended on ayurverdic treatments.
Also has anyone had any issue with little specs being left behind after rinsing? For some reason if I used fenugreek, or hibiscus I had grit I guess it is, and ended up re-shampooing afterward.

1. I am glad you mention the moisture retention after using your ayurvedic mix. I swear this is the case for me too, when I use a mixture with amla. I have been looking around for scientific evidence to support this. If I find, I will post here.
2. I also used to have the rinsing issue. I started using the herbs from ayurnaturalbeauty.com and they are so finely sifted I do not have the problem.

I sometimes use homemade amla oil as a pre poo and I fell in love.

I'm about to try this in a couple of hours when I wash my hair to see how it compairs to detangling first. Hopefully it'll make for easier detangling which means a shorter wash day.

I haven't tried fenugreek or hibiscus but I did get a lot of grit when I used the bringraj by itself. I've learned that when I add shikakai to a mixture it automatically becomes easier to wash out. Maybe because it's a cleanser??

I did a treatment yesterday! I used 2 TBS shikakai, 2 TBS Brahmi, and 2 TBS bringraj mixed with hot water only.
I first wet my hair with a spray bottle, I just kept spraying until the bottle was empty, (I didn't feel like getting in the shower to wet my hair first and then it would be all drippy). Then I applied the paste starting with the scalp first, massaging it in. When I rinsed, my hair felt clean and moisturized. My scalp also felt cool . I co-washed with suave almond and shea butter to make sure it was all out.
So far I like this mixture, it made my washday process a little shorter since I didn't have to poo my hair before applying the paste.

I'm getting tired of henna. Although I like the conditioning effects, it takes forever to wash out and the red color for me is getting to be a bit too much.
I'm really wanting to make the ayurvedic pastes a regular part of my routine. I have been doing an amla, maka, hibiscus paste which I did today. However, I also want to branch out into some other herbs. I bought Rhassoul Clay and I'm going to do a deep treatment with it next week.
I hear alot about the following herbs but am still not sure how to use them: kapur kachri, fenugreek, shikakai, brahimi, marshmallow. Any suggestions on how I can use the herbs to strengthen, moisturize & promote growth would be appreciated. Also, I'd like to know what combinations you use them in and for what purpose.

This reminds me I need to get rid of my herb stash. I bought over $100 worth of herbs last year but it made my hair hella dry. Hair felt strong though.

I use it for its conditioning properties, colour and mucilage.
