I have not noticed a significant difference aside from the stench of the jbco!

I like regular castor oil better, which suprises me because I thought i would like JBCO better since I heard it has more nutrients and all that jazz.

Regular castor oil is much thicker to me, and has a lighter color, but I find that for slicking back buns and sealing in moisture on braids, it is one of my favorite oils in terms of sealing in moisture despite how thick it can be to work with. My hair is very dense and the reg. castor oil works really well.

I used JBCO recently over Oyin Hair Dew, and my hair did not feel as soft when it dries and didnt impart as much moisture and shine. It was almost like it wasn't there at all

So now that's it's been a week...what are everyone's comments about JBCO? I do like regular castor oil, but would try it if there were more benefits than with the regular one.

I can't say one is worse or better than the other, honestly. To me they are the same thing. I use regular castor oil regularly though, mainly because it's easier to access. The next time I purchase Ayurvedic herbs, which I keep putting off but ohwell.lol, I plan to grab a bottle. I don't dislike it at all but I don't think the benefits are soooo far above regular Now Foods castor oil you can pick up from the health food store for $5.

Check out this link..it breaks down some of the difference: Battle of the Castor Oils | Curly Nikki | Natural Hair Styles and Curly Hair Care

But forget all of that!

I'm going to tell your right now.. THEE BEST castor oil is Cold Pressed Hexane Free And Certified Ultra Pure Hertiage The Palma Christi Castor Oil.

I get the 32oz bottle from www.vitacost.com for less than 10 bucks. For me..this stuff is a liquid gold elixer that cures every ailment my hair could possible have. It so good that I don't even have to use a leave-in anymore and I don't need to use a styler (like gel) unless I just feel like it for whatever reason.

I rinse my conditioner out and use this on wet hair and then rinse it slightly with cool water right in the shower after I co-wash. Sometimes I slap it right over top of the conditioner and then rinse it out with cool water while squeezing the hair upward. It all clumps my curls perfectly with no frizz. It all dries soft and moisturized but not greasy. I love it!

Now, I do cut this stuff with some organic extra virgin olive oil because it's pretty thick. It doesn't stink..it has a very light scent that you barely even notice my hair usually just smells like whatever conditioner that I've used.

But I love this stuff to me it kills JBCO any day of the week.

I was about to get on the JBCO bandwagon- GLAD I DIDN'T! After checking many (and I mean many) blogs, I'm ordering from vitacost.com

Yeah, I'm going to save my mulah and get Cold Pressed Hexane Free And Certified Ultra Pure Hertiage The Palma Christi Castor Oil.

Thanks for the reviews/comments ladies- you helped me decide.

is it better or the same (in your opinion) as the classic one offered? i'm on a castor kick! it really pays to have a hair journal and remember what your hair likes!

Can't say, hippychic...my only experience with JBCO is the Extra Dark.

Same here. I like how it cleans my scalp. My edges and front of my hair are a little bit more fuzzier and thicker.

the cold pressed, hexane free castor oil smells similar to the jbco. it isnt as strong nor is it brown but the characteristic burnt-like smell is there. the regular refined castor oil doesn't have the same scent. i just noticed this today.
