Help growing my hair out...

Hey Ladies!

So I have 4b-ish hair (lol) and I BC'd last saturday after 6 months of transitioning, leaving me with a TWA about 1 1/2 inches in length. I'm growing my hair out now (i can't wait till it's enormous and fierce lol) but it's been so long since my hair has been without some type of processing, I'm not sure what to expect as far as growth anymore... For those of you with hair similar to mine, how fast does your hair grow, and what do you do to encourage growth (and length retention)?

I'm also trying to nail down a routine (and products) for when I let the braids go... I feel like I may be prone to being a product junkie. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
<3

Do you like your wash and gos? They do cause you any problems (dryness, tangles, etc.)? If not, I'd say do those until you get some more length.

You can also try comb coils or finger coils.

Focus on a clean and healthy scalp and keeping your ends sealed with oil for optimum results.

You will need to use a leave-in conditioner after every wash session.

Find a creamy moisturizer and seal in your moisture with an oil.

I have super thick hair and rarely experience dryness.

My staple products along with my routine is:

Wash/cowash - natural conditioner. I only shampoo after henna

apply leave-in - typically kinky curly knot today

apply moisture - qhemet biologics heavy cream mixed with hydrating balm

braid/twist while damp/wet - seal the ends with castor oil - sometimes I'll seal the entire strand with castor

Depending on the style, I may use a styler. It may be a gel such as aloe vera gel or kinky curly curly custard or it may be a styling cream such as Ohm Body's Sweet Hair Pudding.
