Aphogee 2-Step Protein Treatment

I've been using this protein treatment for a while now, but have recently been doing the CG method (about 1 1/2month).

I did low poo a couple of times...havent been using anything that contained sulfates or cones...............................until today. I started not to, but I wasn't sure if using a different shampoo/conditioner (other than the Aphogee shampoo <contains mineral oil and sulfates, moisturizing conditioner contains cones>) with the treatment would be a good idea...........so I used the Aphogee brand poo/cond.

After I rinsed out the conditioner which is supposed to be the last step, I applied some CJ Rehab and Coconut Oil to my hair and left it on under a plastic cap for an hour.

After I rinsed that out, my hair was a TANGLED MESS and I had a pretty good bit of shedding and breakage. Now that I've FINALLY detangled it, it feels like ROUGH crap!

I guess I'll just keep conditioning it and doing DT's until it feels normal again (hopefully).

Does anyone know any other shampoos and conditioners that are okay to use with the Aphogee Treatment that are sulfate and cone free?

-Spiral Solutions Deeply Decadent
This happened to my about a year ago...I'm sorry to hear it happened to you....I would suggest you use Aubrey Organics Honeysuck Rose, or whatever thick creamy fatty conditioner you like best....and steer clear of ANYTHING that has the word protein in it for a while.....You will probably need to DC 2 or 3 times a week (which is a pain but you may have to do it)
Treat your hair very gently for the next few months (low maintenance do's can help.)

I will be doing more DT's for the next month at least until I see a difference. I was actually at whole foods yesterday and started to purchase the Aubrey Organics HR, but doesn't it have protein as well?

Sorry to hear you had issues! i have not used to the Apoghee shampoo and conditioners, either. Like the other ladies, I usually co-wash or it is time for me to shampoo I use Giovanni Smooth as Silk. Then I apply the protein treatment, let it dry. After I rinse it out, I do apply a deep conditioner.

Good luck next time!

how do you get past the horrid smell of the aphogee 2 step treatment? i love the 2 minute keratin condish it has just the perfect amount of protein just like k-pak.

Aphogee's Shampoo does have sulfates and the Moisture Balancing Conditioner contains mineral oil and cyclomethicone (I haven't used cones in about 2 months) until I used this.

How long do you guys think I should wait to remove the cyclomethicone from my hair since I just used they're shampoo which totally dried my hair out? I've been doing the CG method and want to continue but i don't think I should do it right away..my hair felt like a brillo pad until I used my KBB Hair Mask today!

I used my own shampoo, my devacare lo-poo to shampoo and used AOHSR as a DC after I was done with the two step. I am not following the CG method so I guess I feel like I don't need to wash out the cone from the Moisture Balance Condish. As long as my hair feels fine then I'm just gonna keep doing what I've been doing.

I am pretty sure the AOHSR doesn't have protein.

Here are the ingredients...

I've done the Aphogee 2-Step Protein Treatment, but I didn't use the shampoo or balancing conditioner by the line. I would do the 2-Step and followup with AOHSR for an hour under heat and then an hour or so without heat before rinsing with cold water.

I like the 2-Step for right before and after I take down my extension braids, but I have the 2 minute here in Minnesota and it does the job for now while I have my hair out.

Sorry to hear this happened to you, but like someone said before, moisture is what you need. HHG!
