Questions about Baking Soda

1. How drying is it to the hair?

2. What is the method for scalp cleansing with it?

baking soda can be very drying to hair if overused.

for clarifying my hair, I use 1 tbls of baking soda in 2 cups (or more) of hot (not boiling) water. Pour over head (use half mixture first) massage scalp, pour remaining mix over hair. Then I usually let is sit while I shower then rinse. Result--soft hair, eats up conditioner (and not stripped or dry)
Baking soda is the only scalp cleanser I use. The amount of baking soda used should vary depending on your hair and what it likes but my hair and scalp can take about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of baking soda in about 3-4 cups of warm water. I pour the mixture over my scalp, massage for about 30 seconds to a minute, and rinse. This method of washing has never made my hair dry. I do this almost everytime I wash.

Thank you for the responses. It seems that everyone has their own method.
...and amounts.

I think I will try to mix it with water and just apply to scalp.
