2010 12 week Deep Conditioning Challenge - WE'RE DONE!!!!!

I'm down. I have started washing/styling my hair every two weeks but what ever braided or twisted style I have I will slather some DC on there. I may get a wig cause I will not be rebraiding or twisting every couple of days. When it gets frizzy, I will put on my hair hat. May is my birthday and I have to retake my driver license pic. I would love to retain all of my length and have fabulously large fro.

I am trying to use up my stash so I will be intermittently using giovani's TTTT with avocado oil added, AOHSR, Elasta QP dpr-11, Silicon mix, 10 en 1 and aussie 3 min moist deeeep conditioner. I think that's all the DCs I have but there may be more
Joining !
Starting from this week, one DT every week at least till the end of March.
Thanks chenaj, this should be fun

This is my before, and im still trying to figure out what i want to use for my DC. I think i may just use some regular conditioner with some kind of EVOO or other oil in it. Is it okay if i switch it up every now and then during this challenge?

Here are the rules
1) You must try to deep condition at least twice a week for 12 weeks; but if you can't once a week will do!

2) Post starting pic and desired outcome by Feb 1st;

3) Suscribe to thread;

4) List the deep conditioners that you use/or will be using either exclusivly, or on rotation, explain how you use them and the results you get using each one (e.g. faster growth, less fairy knots, etc) . This is good info for newbies too!

5) Post results pic by May 1st

It's hard work deep conditioning twice a week, so let's keep each other motivated!!

Sounds like fun! I'll join.

I will only be DC'ing 1x per week since that's how often I wash my hair. I use AOHSR conditioner, I put a plastic cap on and sit underneath my hooded dryer for about 20mins. Does that count as a DC???

Ok ladies,
I have amended the first rule: 1-2 DC's for the first 6 weeks and 2-3 DC's for the last 6 weeks.

Most of us DC once a week anyway so, it's more fun and a lot more challenging to change up our routines, plus the benfits will surpass anything you can get from DCing once a week.

Lets give ourselves time to warm up to the idea of adding an extra DC to our weekly routines. The first 6 weeks are "taking it easy weeks" the last 6 weeks are the race for the finish line so, we have to put all our gusto into it!!

I have also added a new rule - You dont have to wash your hair to DC. Just slap on your DC, do you thing and rinse it out when your ready!

So happy to see so many of us up for the challenge!

I think upping the amount of DCs is what makes it a challenge. I also DC once a week. If I kept doing that I would be exactly where I am. No challenge in that. If I DC twice as much, my hair may be more moisturized, i may have less splits and need less trims. That's my motivation to continue challenging myself. I think it would be cool if some of the ladies who were intersted would try upping the number and if it doesn't work for them then they could go back to their original numbers.

@nubian coils-From my understanding DCing on dry hair allows your hair to absorb more of the conditioner because it is not currently holding water. I have not done it yet but newlynatural talks about it on her blog. some people DC then wash because the conditioning effect penetrates the shaft and should not be easliy washed out. Conditioners like Aubrey Organics actually suggest, DCing then washing. HTH
Routine:
1st 6 weeks: Suave Naturals Tangerine Conditioner and EVOO on wet hair once a week on Saturday. Sit with plastic cap on for 1 hour.

2nd 6 weeks: Some other conditioner (dont know which one yet), and maybe sweet almond oil. Every Monday DC on dry hair and Every Friday DC on wet hair. Sit with plastic cap on for 1 hour.
