Does that really work well? I have been looking at that on bluebeez.com. 60oz for 22.95. Can't beat that.

I think I am going to join this challenge. My first challenge! I usually deep condition once a week. What I do is combine Trader Joes Tea Tree Tingle conditioner with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and if i remember maybe some coconut oil, africas best herbal oil, or honey (but I haven't used that all winter).
I put it on after I wash my hair then put a plastic cap on. Since I have no hooded dryer or heating cap, I found that wrapping a fleece blanket around my head keeps a good amount of heat in. I leave that on for about an hour to an hour and a half.
I will provide my starting pics a after my next wash because i braided my hair yesterday for the week.
I think upping the amount of DCs is what makes it a challenge. I also DC once a week. If I kept doing that I would be exactly where I am. No challenge in that. If I DC twice as much, my hair may be more moisturized, i may have less splits and need less trims. That's my motivation to continue challenging myself. I think it would be cool if some of the ladies who were intersted would try upping the number and if it doesn't work for them then they could go back to their original numbers.

@nubian coils-From my understanding DCing on dry hair allows your hair to absorb more of the conditioner because it is not currently holding water. I have not done it yet but newlynatural talks about it on her blog. some people DC then wash because the conditioning effect penetrates the shaft and should not be easliy washed out. Conditioners like Aubrey Organics actually suggest, DCing then washing. HTH

I could really use this challenge since I have been slacking on my DCs. I barely do them once a week. I think for me part of the challenge will be coming up with new DCs instead of ready-made store bought ones.

I am trying to cut back on my PJism so this will give me an opportunity to use more readily available things around the house.

Cant wait to see the improvement in my hair.
Over 10 years natural and still growing...
Cant wait to get this started! Im going to get some of that sesa oil to add to my DC's. My steamer should be coming soon so that's even more motivation. Now alls I need is a weight loss plan that I can get excited about

I'm in!! I've been natural since 2004 but I have been getting my hair flat-ironed twice a month since then because I didn't know what to do with my new-found curls. Last summer I decided to experiment with my hair and I found some styles that I could do myself, but I still reverted back to the flat iron in Sept. Didn't feel confident enough to rock my curls back at work. But I recently made a committment to myself and my hair that I would'nt straighten until my bday in March and I haven't seen the flat iron in over a month (which is a milestone for me!!!). I've been rocking twist-outs and I have gotten more compliments with my hair like this then I did when it was straight. I like the fact that I no longer look like everyone else! Thankfully my hair didn't loose it's curl pattern and I've only had to cut off about an inch or so of straightened ends! I don't think I'll be going back to the flat iron anytime soon !!

Sorry I gave my hair story, but I love this site and I am very passionate about taking care of my hair!!

I'll post pics this week. My files have been too large to upload on this site.

Yeah, I'm in. Great Idea.

So i am going to start by saying i want to DC twice per week. Once a week overnight and once a week for 1/2 under my steamer.

I am looking for a DC right now as i think AO is too light for me during these winter months. I am def. interested in mixing my own and look forward to ideas from others. My main villian to combat: dryness. I took some recent pics that are on any recent post that i have made so here goes another.

I started last night and DCed with Olive Cholesterol. It's just what i could get my hands on but it won't continue.

I used to DC up to 3x a week post BC and I think that helped me with my hair a lot. I would DC 3x with a moisture based cond and once a week with a protein based conditioner.

This could get costly for me...but I'll give it a shot. I use more now that my hair is longer and thicker but since I use all cheapie conditioners, I think I should be fine.

I'm not a mixologist and I gave up trying a LONG time ago. The best DC for me is either Jessicurl WDT or Joico Moisture Recovery. I am almost done with WDT so I will move on to my Joico stash! This brand has never let me down and I think I'm going to stick to my staples to avoid being a PJ lol.

This will work for me since I am now bunning thru March (on the bun challenge on LHCF) so I can easily squeeze in a midweek wash and DT session.

I'm sooooooo all over this one!

Ok I wanna do this! My ends are very dry. My hair is healthy but I need to step up my game. I'm currently in the market for a better condish. Out of these, can you ladies tell me which is best: Afro Detangler (got a sample and it was fab!), Oyin Honey Hemp, Rhassoul Clay, or whatever the best one is by Trader Joe's (I think its Tea Tree Triple Treat?)

I will start off with Giovanni Nutrafix Hair Reconstructor and alternate with yogurt alone or yogurt with oil or another condish. I normally DT once a week so I'll do it twice a week. Idk if I'll be able to do it 3 times?!! Ok, when we're not leaving it on overnight, how long can we leave it on for? Also, are we allowe dto use heat to dry our hair? If I air dry, my hair is still wet in the morning

I will post a before pic asap!
