My own mother whom I inherited my hair from said that when I wear my hair up it makes it calmer and shinier and silkier. That made me mad for two reasons. First, my hair was not that bad and it's not shiny or silky. It's thick and very wavy, which I of course absolutely love. And second, it made me mad because she made it sound like that silky, shiny, perfect straight hair was the only way to be! She does straighten her hair, but I thought she loved it when I went curly...There is nothing wrong with having thick wavy or curly hair. Or thin curly hair. Curly hair is so much more interesting that straight hair. You never know where the curl is going to take you each day. You can always predict straight hair.
