I think the most popular method here (me included) is the pixiecurl method (so named after a long-lost nc member apparently). Here's a good explanation:

There's also the sock diffuser, the devafuser, and awhile ago people were raving about this conair curl fusion dryer, which is just a completely flat diffuser. HTH!
