You have to moisturize very well after a henna treatment, just like you would after a protein treatment (although henna is not protein).

Right after a treatment, mine feels very rough, but then I use KBB milk or nectar or GVP conditioning hydrating balm, and it's fine.

ETA: also, you weren't using pure henna, so we don't know that your dryness can really be attributed to henna . . .
