Actually, aside from who the curls are actually on and whatever preconceived notions you might have about Slash, his hair looks pretty good, all things considered. It actually looks pretty well-defined, and it certainly looks soft! If he didn't mash it under that tophat all the time, I bet even the canopy would look good. So don't be too ashamed.
