You may want to choose an EO with "antiseptic" qualities. I put some Lavendar EO and a little citric acid in mine--natural preservatives. It's lasted two weeks out of the refrigerator and still smells fine. Other antiseptic EOs are rose, clove and rosemary. I know you want to do it for scent, but it doesn't hurt if it preserves it, too!
