I wish I had known sooner that hair type and weather are the best determinants of product needs. I wasted time randomly trying things that people here recommended, and I wasted a lot of money on stuff that I'd never buy now, knowing what I know about my hair.

I would read everything you can at www.livecurlylivefree.com, including her blog and now, her e-book! It helped me tremendously and took the guesswork out of product selection.
