You need to stop using sulfates, because that's what's inside Pantene shampoos, which are a death sentence to curls. Sulfates are harsh surfactants that you can even find in laundry detergents, they cleanse your hair, but they also strip it from any moisture, consequently drying out your hair.

I read from Kathymack's review that the Komaza Califia Care line carry a fabulous shampoo and conditioner. Jessicurl Gentle Lather Shampoo and Jessicurl Too Shea! Extra Moisturizing Conditioner also receive rave reviews.

Have you begun co-washing? It's a method of washing curly hair by scrubbing and massaging conditioner onto your scalp like you would with a shampoo. I haven't shampooed since I began co-washing when I turned CG seven weeks ago, and my hair is a lot better because of it. My hair doesn't get dirty because I stay away from ingredients such as mineral oil, petrolatum/petroleum, and water-insoluble silicones.
