My hair is really short now, so I just go to bed with my hair wet. I make sure that when I lay down, my hair is laying in the opposite direction that it grows (i.e. I pull it up) and then lay down on t. I sleep like deadwood, so its dry by the time I roll over in my sleep.
I have super fine hair, and I tried letting it hair dry (in the mornings). Uh, no. I look like a pyramid bleh. When my hair gets longer I'll see if I can find some scrunchies!
Okay, personally, this is why I think the scrunchie doesn't make marks. well I think it does a little, but you can't see it because the marks are on the underside of your hair, not on the canopy. They are very faint small marks, (at least they are on me, my hair is fine and anything will leave a dent) but once you let your hair down, you have the volume from letting your hair dry in a direction opposite of the way it normally falls, and your curls are more full because they didn't have gravity pulling down on them.
Some people don't have to worry about that, but for me, its one reason I thought I could never wear my hair curly, until I accidentaly dicovered going to bed with my hair wet.
Yay for loving who you are!
