How to start my first twist out EVER!!!! PLEASE HE :-)

( I wasn't sure were to post this so I posted this in another thread as well)...
I'm 18 years old and been natural my whole life. I have never had a perm, relaxer, or any chemical in my hair. To style my hair my mom would use a hot comb or flat iron to do my hair. The pass few months I have been going to a Dominican Blowout salon, and I notice a change in my hair. My hair is damage and dry, and HATE it. I want to try something new since it is summer now and it will be getting hotter in the next few weeks. I spoke with my mom and my aunt about it; and they mention twist outs. I have seen many women with this look and I have always love it, but I never had the guts to try it. I would like to try to put a twist out in my hair in the next few weeks. Since this is my first twist out what are the do's & don'ts and are there products and tips I should try? Please help. Thanks :-)

My hair type is 3c almost 4a. When my hair is straighten its near my coller bone and when it is in its natural state it reaches the middle of my neck. My hair is thick but it is shorter in the back of my hair. Right now I am useing Pantene Dry to Moisturized Shampoo, LeKair Cholesterol Plus Conditioner or Mixed Chicks Deep Conditioner. To straighten I use Skills Elements MegaSilk Heat Protection.

I just saw your post on the 4a thread and adthomas and applesandfros gave you great advice!

Do you know if you have high, normal or low porosity? How dense is your hair? I'd love to offer you product suggestions, if you would like

The density of my hair is high and the porosity is normal. adthomas and applesandfros did give me great advice. Thank you so much for helping me.
