Default Conditioner frizzing my hair?

I've been using baking soda and lately Aubrey Organics for my hair. I'm trying to stay as natural as possible, but Aubrey just wasn't working for my hair, and while the baking soda really brings out my curls (the only thing that really does actually), it was leaving me too dry after awhile. Because of all these droughts my hair is even more dry now! I broke down and bought DevaCurls One Conditioner and it's making my hair sooo soft, light, and detangled. It's also making my hair frizz up terribly and my curls are leaving. I have 3a hair (lovely ringlets when it's cooperating - otherwise it's 2c or just a fluff ball!) and very low porosity. Has anyone had DevaCurl's, or anyone else's conditioner, frizz their hair? I don't want to use any other products outside of cleaning and conditioner if I don't have to (I've never regularly used a product on my hair). Oh, and I've tried the vinegar rinse but it just seems to build up and doesn't do much positive for my hair either.

Many of us start with Deva, think we like it and then move on to other things that work a lot better. They changed the ingredients a few years ago and even people who liked it stopped using it.

The best way to choose ingredients/products is by hair properties. I see that you are low porosity--what is your texture? If you know that you can look for folks with hair like yours and see what they use.

I never used products until I started on nc.com. My hair prefers the more natural products from the online, boutique type companies. My hair doesn't care for the chemicals in gels, so I use jelly type products. I couldn't use just conditioner and have it work for me. If your hair is fine, it may need some additional protein. My hair has always satiated on products. Although I wet, use a rinse out and style every day, I seldom use any one product more then every five days.

You may want to try making homemade flax seed gel (if you search, there are a lot of threads.) That way you can control the ingredients.

I think my hair is medium, maybe a little coarse? That's one of the things I have the hardest time determining! I know it's not fine though. I'll look up on flaxseed gel. My biggest problem with products is that they always just sit on my hair and weigh it down, even if I just use a little.

I might go back to my baking soda washing and try doing Deva Curl every so often, when my hair starts to get dry again.
