Coconut milk has a lot of protein in it, so I think most would probably consider it a protein treatment even though it does leave your hair soft.

Totally cosigning on that. It has moisturizing properties but my hair's so...not...damaged (?!) that it can't do too much coconut oil/milk. I don't want to say I'm "protein sensitive" because I use hydrolized proteins/vegetable proteins like it's nothing. But something about that coconut milk...lol

In short, it can make for a really good moisturizer or good protein boost depending on your hair.

It is loaded with protein and it doesn't make my hair soft. Makes mine like straw. Way too strong for my hair.
