Default Ends are ALWAYS tangled!

No matter how many times I moisturize my hair and detangle it... My ends always get tangled.. When I straighten my hair the ends are a little rough as well.. The rest of my hair is great... Roots and an inch above the ends of my hair they stay detangled and smooth. Help?? It's like my ends are like barbwire. Any advice?

You may have split ends. When did you last trim your hair?

Mine are too. No matter how many times i trim. They always are rougher and more tangled then the rest of my hair, an inch above the ends all the way to the roots are fine. :/

Trim doesn't help me either. And "clarifying" makes it 10x worse. Right now I'm actually afraid of clarifying cleanser!

Lately it seems like the dry ends on my "canopy" are creeping up my hair, and I have so many knots and tangles it's impossible not to tear some hair. It's as though my hair gets to a certain length and turns into twisted "barbwire".

One thing I've learned (for my hair) is to be careful with layers of gel and/or curl creams; especially styler that contains glycerin and/or proteins. When I'm doing 3rd/4th day hair, additional layers of product can destroy my hair, even if they are glycerin/protein free.

When the weather is really dry, I have to suck it up and wet my whole head way more often, and I have to remove product several times a week (rinse or co-wash). The longer I wait to rinse the layers of product, the more dried-out my canopy gets. The drier it gets, the more it turns into uneven rough clumps. If my hair wasn't layered I'd love to do dreadlocks, but I can't even gets twists to work right at this point.

^This. Most of my breakage through out my hair comes from this. I try to be as gentle as humanly possible but its so tangled so often..

Yeah my ends are always a little rough even when I keep them trimmed. Its not very noticeable when it's curly though and I only straighten once or twice a year so i dont mind!

Yep, my ends are feeling very tangled right now, but I'm torn between trimming and not trimming, mainly because I don't want to straighten my hair. I think straightening just adds to the problem, really! I did the twist-n-trim method and it helped a little. But I'm probably going to have to get at least an inch off.

Hopefully this will be helpful to somebody in this thread...Tonight I realized my hair was seriously dirty, so I wanted to get a very thorough wash. I shampooed with Queen Helene Mint Julep Shampoo, and I could run my fingers through most of my hair while the shampoo was still in it! When I rinsed, there were only a couple of knots and little tangles - nothing like the usual anarchy.

This cleanser has amazing slip. I hadn't used it in awhile, but I am so glad I decided to use it tonight. I put in AsI Am Leave-In and CCCC, and, so far, my hair is behaving itself!

OMG my hair's canopy/crown!!! It's the worst. The ends of it can certainly be categorized as barbedwire. The other day as I finger-detangled in sections and braided, I went ahead and trimmed off 3/4 of an inch from that braid. Here's to hoping that helps a bit!

Default Hope this helps

I find that the shea moister coconut hair milk helps with this. I wash, condish WITH THE ENTIRE LINE then apply it as a leave in that's what took care of it. Also kimmaytube conditioner helped TREMENDOUSLY. i love that water literally drips from my ends when i do this; my hair dries well and stays moist all week!
to add i re braid @ nite to preserve both curl pattern and moister.

prior to discovering shea moister products i did other things that helped. like spritz ends with water then apply castor oil results are great! also sealing with melted shea butter helps too.

I had this issue when I first became natural and i hated it! i tried everything and nothing seemed to work. But as i gain more knowledge about how to treat my hair I mastered this issue. it took me while to find the rite product so dont be frustrated. Just focus on moisturizing those ends when caring for your hair the ends should be #1 priority. HTH

I have the exact same problem. Detangling in shower is a nightmare for me. and same thing when I straighten, my ends look like this bundle of straw. I am just a 3a and dont have that tight coils and still have this tangle problem.

I am low porosity so I need to moisture as much as I can. GVPCB is my go-to product and I cant get enough of it -even if I moisturize every single day.

If you have split ends you may need a trim. However, I had the same problem but didn't have split ends. I figured out I needed to do protein treatments.

I use 4tbsp. of plain greek yogurt, 2 tbsp. of olive oil. To mask the scent I also put about a tbsp or 2 of honey and a dash pf vanilla. Apply this focusing on your ends and leave it in your hair for 20-30 minutes making sure your hair is covered with a showercap. Then rinse out the yogurt mix with conditioner and this always helps my ends feel amazing.

I do this whenever I feel my hair needs it.

I have absolute zero split ends, but my hair tends to be very coarse, i can see that. Stiff hair strands and you can really really feel each hair strand. If that makes any sense.
