Default Varying Shampoo Treatments

I know it's best to switch up your routine, whether it be every other day or every other week, but I'm curious as to how much of a change it needs to be. I have recently switched to baking soda, honey, and water for all my shampooing needs, based not a little bit upon my current super-tight budget, and it seems to be working very nicely. I am curious, though, if it is enough of a change to leave the honey out of the mix sometimes and sometimes not, or if I should look for a slightly broader spectrum of products, or this is pretty much a trial-and-error sort of situation I need to work out on my own. I admit, I am a creature of habit and I like things being simple enough I don't have to think about them - if I could use the same shampoo every wash, I would. What do you think?
