Default Best CG gel?

Hey there,

I've been using FOTE gel for a while now and I love that it gives me great clumps and nice curls but it doesn't seem to have a lot of hold. What do you curlies use as a gel? I bought the v05 mega hold gel but I realized it contains glycerin which makes my hair terribly frizzy.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I like Aussie gel. I make the clumps clumpier with my denman or paddle brush.
I read that a lot of the ladies here also like the Herbal Essences Set Me Up, and Totally Twisted gels.

It would perhaps help to find someone that has a similar hair type to yours and see what is working for them.

I use Biotera gel (from Sallys), and I absolutely love it, it gives me hold without my hair looking hard or crunchy. Although, I'm going to try LA sports gel once my bottle runs out (which will be soon cause I have a lot of hair) because so many people on this site rave about it and its much much cheaper. So you might want to try that before you try Biotera.

Thank for the suggestions, but I live in Australia and I don't think those are available here, plus shipping to Australia is quite expensive atm!

I was going to say neither of their suggestion are available here. I alot of people are shocked that aussie brand is not available in australia. It's not even australian.

Anywho, I personally have little luck with aloe. It's interesting you like aloe but dislike glycerin, both humectants. I did try a vo5 gel I bought at the reject shop ($2 bargain!!). It was a clear/ perhaps slightly blue tube. I liked it, nice hold and good definition. Mind you this was approx. a year ago. I mentioned it on here awhile back, trying to find the thread for you.

I also heard some aussies using biolage curl gelee or something like that. I haven't used it but apparently it's good?? You should be able to get it at HHWH or the like. Though it will be more expensive.

ps. tried to find post but was couldn't sorry i think the gel had 'air' something in the name

I've read that aloe isn't a humectant and acts as a moisturiser for your hair. So I think that's why aloe works for my hair and glycerin doesn't. However, I can still use glycerin during the summer but not in cold climates. Recently it's been hot here in Melbourne so I'm going to give the v05 a whirl tonight.

Thanks for the suggestion curlywurly! I'll probabaly pop into Price attack and check it out this weekend.

Try the Garnier Endurance 24h gel. The Matrix Curl Defining gel gives a stronger hold but is quite producty, hard to scrunch out.

casey jane the VO5 i got at the reject shop, I got a little confused whether I made myself clear.

Feralcurls which 24 hr gel one do you use. Think I got a different one, i really didn't like it. made my hair very producty.

Think there is only one 24h gel?

I don't actually use any styling products anymore apart from non-cg serums. I hate the feel of stuff in my hair and I am not trying for more curls.

well the one I had made my hair feel really gunky/producty. My friend used one that was in a tub not a tube, but she said it was a bit drying after awhile?

I came across these two gels; 1 and 2 I've heard good reviews about them, did realize we had them here. Believe they are both cg but not 100% sure.

The firm hold has d-cone in it. The medium had lots of stuff that I didn't know what it was.
