Some success with fighting humidity in Brisbane
Hi all! How exciting... I feel like a whole new world has opened up... I never thought to look at the Aussie swap board for info! It's always so disheartening when you hear about all these great products and find out you can only get them in the US or UK.:banghead:
I recently moved from Melbourne to Brisbane and had the same experience some of the others have had. Big, fluffy, dry hair by early afternoon. After reading countless (and I mean countless!) threads and trying honey, aloe vera gel, deep conditioning and different conditioners, I discovered coconut oil. :love7: It has helped heaps! I also changed conditioner to MOP mixed greens. I quite like the smell. :pl: So I now cond with MOP, rinse with cold water, put some avg and tiny bit of oil in my hair and plop in a microfibre towel (those light blue ones you get from the airport). I'm now on the lookout for a gel. Btw, my routine in Melbourne was cond with Aubrey Organics (hydrating) blue chamomile, use MOP C curl cream and plop. That really worked for me, esp in winter. You can get the AO at Prahran Health foods. Hope that helps! I have fine, 3b, protein loving (sometimes), medium length hair. |
Glad you've found something that works for you, I swear I would never move anywhere humid as I'd have to shave my head! We've had quite a few humid days here in Adelaide through the summer and although my hair wasn't as badly behaved as it usually is, I wouldn't like to have to deal with it all the time.

Ha ha... That just might be an option. How good does Emma Watson look!?! :notworthy:

Conclusion
So, I finally found my hg.... it's fsg! :love5:
My official Brisbane (summer) routine is: cowash: any conditioner handy, diluted cond: Mop Mixed Greens style: slather on fsg, avg & coconut oil, plop then air dry Will be experimenting with adding coconut oil and avg to the fsg so I only have 1 product. Next time I travel, I'll carry Mop mg & Mop hydrating(?) as well as coconut and almond oil (co doesn't seem to work for me in drier climates) so I've got all bases covered. Hope this comes in handy for anyone travelling north. :cya: |

I shampoo with kevin murphy hydrate me wash and condition with kevin murphy born again masque. I love the stuff. Its made of fruit products. It doesnt drag down my curls or leave yucky residue. Down side is that each products retails at 40. I bought from an organic salon at westfield carindale. I also use organix anti breakage serum coconut milk. Its cheap as chips and u can buy from the supermarket. Its good for taming frizzes, i like to work it thru the end of my curls. Another good product i use is a joico sun spray.... My sister gifted it to me. Its good for hydrating your curls before and after hanging out in the sun.
