Good CURLY Hairdresser in Melbourne....
Been living overseas for the last couple of years and have just relocated back to Melbourne. I'm in desperate need of a GOOD hair cut!! I'd like to know if anyone can recommend a decent hairdresser who can cut curly hair. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
P.S I bought my curly girl book online with amazon.com in the UK but I think you would be able to get in with amazon in Oz. |
I finally found a great hairdresser in Melbourne. She herself has curly hair so can understand the delimas we face!!
Go to MINK on Barkly street ST. Kilda. The nbr is 95936000 and ask for Te-Awa. I recently had a hair cut there and she was very professional and gave plently of advice. I highly reccommend her. |

Does anyone know if Te-Awa is still at Mink? Thanks!

not sure if Te-Awa is still there, you could try ringing them. Otherwise I've heard good things about Lucy at Cast in Richmond (I think). I was to chicken to try her and right now I'm avoiding cutting my hair.

Re: Lucy at Cast
I was recently told that Lucy is now at the Cast salon in South Yarra (not North Fitzroy) - wondering if anyone can confirm this? North Fitzroy is convenient for me, but South Yarra not so much... If she has moved, I now have to decide: a) if I actually WANT my hair cut, b) if I can justify the cost, and c) if I can justify the trip to South Yarra!

I checked out there website (has changed since I last went on there..) There is an email for Lucy - lucylgc@hotmail.com (this came up when i copied) but this is what's on web page lucy@castsalons.com *shrugs*
Must be a very new website as half of the links say "coming soon" Let me know how you go. |
I’m in desperate need of a good cut, does anyone know of anymore stylists in Melbourne? I’ve had a load of disasters in the past and have resorted to trimming my own ends but I feel it’s high time I got some professional help.

I've been happy with the results i have got with lucy at cast in sth yarra. Another curly girlfriend of mine has found her old stylist is working at biba academy in fitzroy. She use to work at one of the other biba's but had injured her hand. She oversees the whole process, shows the student how to cut the curls etc. It'll set u back something ridiculous like $15 for the cut! Though do take into consideration it will take longer. Her name is Charlotte from memory.
I have been to the biba academy before, no curl specialist (charlotte wasnt there) my cut was ok, awesome colour (back when i coloured my hair). I had my hair washed 3 times though.. lol! |
oscar oscar
I walked into Oscar Oscar salon at Doncaster yesterday and asked for a stylist who was experienced with curly hair. Adrian cut my hair , he is a whizz with the scissors and very skilled with curly hair. I walked out so happy as it's the best cut I have ever had!! He even told me that he loves the challenge of cutting curls so for anyone looking for a good stylist I can't recommend Adrian highly enough. Not cheap but well worth it.

Has anyone had any experience, good or bad, with Oscar Oscar in Sydney?

how much did oscar oscar cost to get a cut? :)

Any feedback on the haidressers you have tried???
Hi - I am new to Melbourne. I have curly hair and a short hair cut at the moment.
I have tried two hairdressers so far (Falcone hairdresser and Lure) and I have been very disappointed. None of them seem to be able to cut curly hair (so imagine short curly hairs...) and the worst was this guy at Lure doing the exact contrary of what I asked for ... I went there yesterday and I am sooooo depressed by my hair cut!!!! So the next time I do not want to get it wrong and I will like to ear back from the hairdressers you have been advised through the forum. Who did you try and will you recommend them? How much did you pay? Also is Lucy still at Cast and is she so good? I have seen her name in different forums. Thanks in advance for your help girls!!!!!! |
Hey! I have been seeing Eri at Lure (Melbourne) since 2006. I now live in Canberra and after trying a couple of places here, I only get my hair cut when I'm back in Melbs. Thankfully we're moving back in 2 weeks :D
Eri always listens to what I want and I always walk away with exactly what I asked for. She's extremely meticulous. I too had a disappointing haircut from a dude in Lure once in Eri's absence. I can't remember his name, but I was devastated. I hear that they're moving to cnr of Gertrude and Napier in the new year... Goodluck!! |
Hi Loloma76,
Thank you so much for the reply! The fact that you have been seeing her since 2006 and even after you moved is a great reference! I will now just have to wait for my hair to grow a bit and bear my horrible haircut for a bit longer. Yes the guy that cut my hair told me they will move but I do not know when. Welcome back to Melbourne! |
Try Neel at cherry bomb smith street. He is amazing, dry cut, understands not brushing, straightening and really loves cutting curls!!!!
