Soooo frustrated trying to find products!

Hi,

I bought Alchemy Conditioner & Pears conditioner (to use as shampoo) after reading from this forum. The thing is, i read from the Alchemy website that thier shampoo is sulphate free. Does this mean its ok to use their shampoo as a CG shampoo? Seeing that its sulphate free?

Sorry.. still new to all these.
If you use a sulfate free shampoo (normally described as low poo) then you are considered to be 'modified CG'. I low poo! I think '2' are allowed to low poo too. Do what works for you and your hair I reckon.

I alternate between low pooing and co-washing. Is working nicely.
Ahhh... ok.

Thank you for that. I'm also looking at MOP products because some of the curl stuff doesn't have cones.

I think i'm more of a 3B. I'm very excited, first time i actually let my hair curly after years of straightening with the GHD!
I use MOP curl cream and really like it. I got one of their conditioners but didn't like that as much.
Can anyone recommend a gel product to hold the curls?

FeralCurls, how do you like the Matrix Curling gel?
Used my new 'Organic Instict' Conditioner from Priceline. I must say i'm really impressed! Did my 1st real CG wash with it followed by Fructus 24h endurance gel (have not used a gel since high school!) My curls are really defined & no frizz at the moment. I did not do too much scrunching. Not quite sure what to do with the front. Don't quite follow the clipping tecniques in the GC book - one step at a time I guess.
I'm 35 years old & have been battling my hair for years - feel like I'm starting to turn a corner. I was using S-Factor Serious conditioner for every wash prior to this ($40 a tube mind u) but it's full of silicones as were all the Bed-Head, Tigi leave-in conditioners I was using. I really have wasted a lot of money over the years - talk about marketing B.S!!!
I have 3a/3b botticelli curls.
The Matrix Curling Gel is quite good. I find it to have quite a strong hold, bit hard to totally scrunch out the crunch. I use the fructus 24hr gel but usually over a curl cream.
Well thanks for the tip on the 24h gel. I love it!! I find that it really prevent any frizz as long as i don't touch my hair when its wet. But I have short hair and am getting really frustrated with my 2nd hair day though. Its frizz galore!

Also found out that Petra www.petra.com.au carries Jessicurls products if anyone is interested. I emailed them asking when they will be stocking and someone replied back saying that it is already in stock in their stores. They don't have it online but you can call them and make an order & delivery. I'm really interested in getting the RR & CC but am a bit scared as i read it made a lot of ppl's hair dry & stringy due to the Mag sulphate?

Frizzy hair? - then you should try Lube! As in personal lubricant!!!! lol

Can't help with second day hair as I don't even both trying.

There is another thread on here about the jessicurl stuff. Mag sulf is only a problem if your hair doesn't like it.
ParasiteEve: yeah petra have stocked jessicurl for a few months apparently.. I found it at petra highpoint, in melb. Here's the thread feracurls was talking bout..

Attention Melbourne Curlies

I found the products decent, didn't find much if any dryness but I tend to easily overcondition. I got a sample pack so I could have a play. Dissapointed they only stock full size in one scent (island fantasy), I liked the other scent better.

curlywurlygurly: Thanks for the link.

Did you ended up making an order from curlmart & if you do what did you get? How long did it take to reach here?

I did a mock order and it will cost about $50 if i were to buy the KCCC, the conditioner and another item. Not sure if it is worth the cost of postage....

And FeralCurls, yes i read about KY Jelly being similar in Ingd to another item. I can't remember what though. Will do more searching on how to use it..

I really should concentrate more on having a baby instead of making my hair into nice curls! I have 3 more weeks till i pop!
Parasite Eve: yeah I made a order it's my end of exams pick me up (plus tax money so I could kinda justify ..kinda). Shipping is nuts... apparently they're trying to lower the international shipping cost (think I read it in the curlmart forum) I think I payed $40 which is well.. crazy.. but I don't really mind, it'll make me happy. I ordered KCCC and KCKT, re-coil and the curly book (long story short I tried to get in aust, but it didn't go so well). I haven't got it yet, it shipped a few days ago, so I'll let you know when I get it. I'm SOOOO excited I can't wait!! but I got it sent to my boyfriends house, as I'm moving soon and didn't want it to get lost.. but he intends to hold it ransom until I cook him a nice dinner.. grrf!

ooohhhh the KCCC and KCKT are the things I would order!!! I am also obsessed with getting LOOB!!

Lube is supposed to work the same as Curl Keeper. I used it under my styling products. You use quite a large amount.
yeah I couldn't resist KCCC and KCKT, I'll let you know how I go.. can't wait. Maybe I can send you a sample..? not sure how, or if Australia post would well... allow it?

I can't seem to get good results with lube.I use to much and my hair feels soo producty and I have to wash sooner or I don't use enough and it's a frizz ball.I apply straight to dripping wet hair.I don't use it often as I can never get consistent results, I'm better off doing my usual and getting a bit of frizz (not that much on an average day)

I'm really loving the Al'chemy. Feralcurls, there's one in the Al'chemy range which is for sensitive skin (fragrance free), have you tried it?
I forgot to mention that my local Terry White chemist is now stocking Burts Bees products. Their conditioners are CG safe. I've used lots of their products over the years, but I've never been able to find the hair care products. I'll be trying it when my Pears runs out.
Thanks for the Burts Bees tip I was looking for an Aussie distributer the other day.

I have been playing with the L'Oreal Elvive range and love it! The deep treatment masques are CG and are giving me great results!
They have Burt's Bees in DJ's too, I bought some conditioner a few weeks ago. Not loving it unfortunately.
3b in South Australia.
I'm not an Aussie, but something about this thread caught my eye. I was surprised in scanning thru not to see any mention of Aussie brand products, unless I just overlooked them.

A lot of their products are OK, inexpensive and, I assume, available there? With a quick scan of ingredients on drugstore.com, I see that the following, and probably others, are options:
  • Original 3 Minute Miracle - contains only simethicone at the very bottom of the ingredient list
  • Hair Insurance Leave In - contains only water-soluble dimethicone, which is safe
  • Tizz No Frizz Gel - cone free
  • Instant Freeze Sculpting Gel - cone free
  • Moist Leave In Conditioner - cone free
  • Instant Freeze Sculpting Mousse - cone free
  • Opposites Attract Strong Hold & Touchable Feel Spray Gel - cone free - I found this one interesting myself - may have to hunt some down and try it
I used to use 3 Minute Miracle a long time ago and really liked it - it was very unique here at the time.

I have some Instant Freeze Sculpting Gel but haven't tried it yet - I have more product than I can get to!

Maybe some of this offers some options you hadn't considered?
