I know what you mean about affording new hair stuff! I have tried everything from health food shops including Alchemy, natural instinct, melrose, triology etc and also over the years just about every other professional brand. I keep going back to Paul Mitchell leave in and sculpting mousse but found that after a week or so they make my scalp itchy and hair that feels straw like. I never use products with cones or sulphates and that's made a huge difference to my hair. Because my hair is very coarse i find that the only way to manage it and get curls is lots and lots of moisture so i always leave the conditioners in my hair and leave it to dry naturally. At the moment i am using the EverEscents lavender condish as a leave in and joico ice whip for styling. It seems to be the best combination that i've found for my hair in a long time. I now have soft hair and even getting 2nd day, which is rare for me and it's great now that it's winter and i start work early. The shampoo and conditioner is very concentrated so only a small amount is needed. Hope that helps.
