About to go CG.

Hi everyone. Another Aussie here to join in!

After reading this site for some time gathering information, I think I'm ready to try the no-poo thing. I have a feeling it'll end up being lo-poo for me. But nevertheless, I'm hoping it'll help my hair realise it's true potential. It's had a hard life.

I've been looking through all the shampoos in my house (a house with 5 women living in it!) to find one to use for my last (clarifying) shampoo before going CG and while they do have the requisite sulfates in them, they also contain silicones.

Can anyone recommend a sulfate shampoo without silicones to use for my last wash before going no-poo?

Have you got a Priceline or IGA near you? There is a brand called Pears that makes shampoos (they have sulfates & no silicones) which you can get there. They are very cheap too. They ALSO make silicone free conditioners so you can buy some of them to co-wash your hair and you can also use them as a conditioner/leave in Good luck!

Thanks AlannahAngel. I was actually checking the ingredients on all the different shampoos at Woolies the other day and I must have skipped right over Pears. Will definitely be looking into that.

I don't think Pears is sold @ woolworths :\ If you can't be bothered getting Pears, there is also Herbal Essences Totally Twisted shampoo. It has no coens however some of the other shampoos from the Herbal Essences line do. Make sure to get the cone-free one =o)

If you have a hair house ware house or another hair place near you you could go in and ask for some samples for clarifying shampoos... they use to give me samples even when I didn't ask for them. I think i used my shampoo i had for swimming when I first started. I use to use it to 'strip' the chlorine off my hair once a month..umm.. this one here. Was super duper harsh though!

Oh right. Oops That's probably why I didn't see it then.

I was really only looking at the shampoos in Woolies because I was doing the grocery shopping and it would have been convenient if they'd had a cone free one there. But I have a Priceline, an IGA a Target and various salons quite close, so I'll have a look at those.
