I was on the hunt the other day an Alicia Keys hair photo. I know she is natural but most of the time I see her her hair is braided, straight, a weave or looks manipulated with a curling iron or rollers.

This one appears to just be her regular curl pattern. Maybe litte heat damage in the front? Anyway love her hair. Mine is tighter curl but I think I can pull off many of the curly looks she does.

It just dawned on me that I have never seen her natural curl pattern either. I'm used to seeing her with cornrows or straight hair.

Alicia should wear her natural pattern more often. With hair like hers, I don't understand why her stylist feels the need to manipulate it so much other than an occassional stretched style or pretty updo. She should just let it do it's thing!

I love this look on her. I think she looks better this way than with any other hairstyle I've seen.

2/c and some 3A. Modified CG.
Protein sensitive
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Conditioners: Curl Junkie Beauticurls Strengthening Conditioner,
Deep condish: Curl Junkie Curl Rehab
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift
In one of her videos from her 1st album she has her hair out and I remember falling in love with how massive it was. I'm going to try to find the video and post it here...

her hair wow wow wow love her braids. beautiful~
This is a candid pic of her hair on what seems to be an off work day. No stylist or anything special, just as unmanipulated as we will probably ever see.

I don't believe that's Alicia's natural curl pattern. I hear people saying she's a 3b all the time and I don't believe it. She has dye damage and heat damage in her hair.

Naturally she's a 3c/4a mix leaning more 3c IMO:

By high school she definitely looks like she's texturized. And yep..she definitely got that nose done too.

Personally..I like her damaged hair though just fine. Looks pretty to me when she just lets it go wild like in the photos BlessedBMyRoots posted.

I don't think those pictures are relevant for guessing her hair type cus it looks like its kind of picked out in one and like there's nothing in it in the other. Keep in mind that's she's mixed, perhaps her mom didn't know how to care for her hair type.

Her hair in her senior photo looks very healthy defined. People were using gel back them. Either way I think her hair is very pretty.

I agree with adthomas. It looks like a textbook case of heat damage. That's why so many celebs wear wigs and pieces--to protect their hair from damage.

And what the heck does her being mixed have to do with her mom not knowing how to do her hair??? Nevermind. I dont even want to know.

Whether her mom knew how to do it or not is really irrelevant to her actual NATURAL hair type. I think it's been a LONG time since Alicia Keys has had her natural curl pattern as it grows out of her head. Her hair has been damaged from dye and heat..clearly. She's hardly ever seen in public with unmanipulated hair. And one can see from her childhood photos her curls aren't the same today. And I still think she was texturized in her senior photo..a lot of mixed girls used to texturize their hair (and still do frankly) back in the day..they just didn't tell anyone and pretend it's natural. And it wouldn't surprise me if she got a fresh texturizer for her senior photo.
