What curl type is Keri Russell?
I'm still not very good at identifying the different types of curls yet. Just curious what you think her natural texture is. Also any guesses on how she styles it (or have any of you perhaps read articles where she talked about her routine)?
When it was longer, it seemed like loose waves. But I saw a recent magazine cover (Lucky) where it seemed like bigger curls now that it's shorter. Love her hair! |
I'm PRETTY sure this is her natural texture:

Also here is a picture of the cover I'm talking about. You can't see it very well, unfortunately. (edited, the linked photo is no longer there) EDIT: I originally linked a photo that automatically shows the CURRENT Allure cover. When I linked it, it was Keri Russel. Then it changed to Rosario Dawson. Now it's someone else. I apologize for the confusion this has caused!

It's not very defined, I suppose, but I like how it seems so carefree and romantic. |
lol, I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to frizz and flyaways... I'm working on it, and I'm a bit more tolerant of them now but they tend to bug me >.<
I think the pics where her pattern is looser might be after blow drying/using curling irons to change the curls. Could be wrong though. |

I always thought her curls in Felicity were natural and pretty tight. I would agree 3b/c.
Haven't seen her curls for years though. Unless pregnancy and child birth changed her curl pattern (drastically) I just assumed she had become a serial straightener....unfortunately. |
Most pictures of her look like 3b to me. Her wavy look is very pretty, too, but I don't think that's her natural texture.
|
I think she leans more toward 3c naturally and 3b/c with styling and a good hair cut. Her hair is nowhere near a 3a or 2 unless it has changed drastically over the years.
|
She's a 3b/c when it's natural; her hair is gorgeous and I wish that she'll stop straightening it. She alters her curls, that is why her hair looks different nowadays, but you can still see what her natural texture is because her roots are still very curly when everything else is straight. She probably got a relaxer.

I think she's near a 3A now. I've been watching all the seasons of Felicity lately, and when the show first started she had really big beautiful tight curly hair, but after she cut off all of her hair in season two, her curlpattern changed a lot.
I'm now at season four, and her curls are something between 3A and 3B, my hair looks exactly like hers, and to be honest, my hair looked exactly like hers in the picture above when i was little. But after several weird haircuts and different colours, my curlpattern changed too over the years. Apparently your whole body gets renewed every 7 years. So it takes your body 7 years to change every cell, just as well as your hair i guess. Her curls got a lot looser IMO and i love her hair no matter what it looks like, but i agree with helloyellowbird, she has to stop straightening her hair! I think it makes her look too serious and a lot older than she really is.. |

Yellowbird -- I don't think she has a relaxer because many of the pics of her when she is just about town show her with curly hair pulled back. I think she just has great stylists who are pros at making her hair look naturally straight. |

It defenitely looks like she had started the CG method too, her hair looks a lot more shiny and healthy with much less frizz. It's the volume that's been reduced after her big chop. But her hair looks a lot more healthy now than it did in season one for instance. :) Hopefully she'll start wearing her curls more often again, she's an amazing actress with a great personality and a beautiful complexion, it's a shame the stylist (or maybe just she) is trying to change that. |
Hey everyone! I was linking to a photo on Lucky's site, and they updated it with their current cover. Sorry for the confusion!

I agree w/ Shycurl. Too straight hair makes her look odd and old (not in a good way). It's her face shape. She doesn't have the right one for super straight hair. I can't remember where I read it, but she said herself that she doesn't look good with really straight hair. It was probably her agent's idea to distance her from Felicity and be seen as more of a grown-up actress instead of a teen star.

Pretty interesting - I just happened to catch an episode of "Married with Children" this morning with Kerri Russell on it. Her hair was very long, very curly, and quite frizzy. However, I liked it. I had very long hair for awhile, then I had it cut. I am growing it back again. I just need to keep after those ends of my hair so they don't look ragged. I wonder what types of products Kerri Russell uses on her hair.
