Default So Perfect 10 haircolor was a perfect flop for me...

I am transitioning from having my hair colored at the salon for 20+ yrs to doing it myself. I tried Perfect 10 and not even after 2 weeks, my grays were already coming through... It's been 4 wks since I last colored and I need to color again probably this weekend. I have a couple of Clairol Nice & Easy colors at home bc i was so indecisive about choosing a color last time, I bought 3!!
Should I try the N & E? For those of you that have used it and are covering gray, does it last longer than a couple of weeks?
Any recommendations? I did look at the color at Sally's but it is so overwhelming!!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I had the same problem with perfect 10 when I used it. I've had much better luck with others...when I get home I'll try to remember to see what they were and let you know. (yes, i keep a catalog of what i used and when...haha)

Okay, looks like I had the best result recently with nice n easy...I colored on Feb 7, and none of my gray is showing through, except for my grow out....still 100% covered.

It looks like Loreal Excellence cream covered really well too, but I didn't note how long until it started to show through.

Well, that's great news since I have 2 boxes of Nice n Easy at home
Since I'll be using a different brand/color this time, should I put it on roots only, or roots 1st and pull the color through to the ends the last 10 minutes or so? Or put it on all over from the start? I've read it's not good to completely cover all your hair every time you color or the ends will get dark, but I'm using a different shade so I don't want 2 colors...

Btw, I see you're in Tx, so am I Where do you live? I live in St Paul, right outside of Wylie.

Hmmm, is the color much different from the color you have on your hair now? I would put it through all of your hair if so. If it's basically the same color, I'd pull it through the ends for the last ten minutes or so.

And yep, I'm in TX. Actually in Grapevine...about 20 minutes from Dallas. I"m not familiar with St Paul, or Wylie...sounds like we're a ways away from each other.

It's pretty close to the other color so I may just pull it through the ends.

Yeah, I've been to Grapevine Mills Mall a few times We're not that far from each other. Wylie is not far from Plano, kind of northeast I think, by Lake Lavon. It is one of the fastest growing cities in Tx, according to the census. We're almost neighbors

SH, have you found that N & E or L'oreal are better than Colorsilk?

Thanks,
Ninj

Hmmm, Ninja.....I know I've used Revlon before...but the only thing I can remember about it is that I used dark brown (thinking...my hair is dark brown naturally) and I ended up looking like Elvira. So I never went back...(no fault of the brand I understand) The have a relatively new Colorsilk Lumanista that looks interesting.....have you tried it?

So to answer your question....I can't say. Right now N&E is on the top of my list. Great coverage...great looking color, and really high shine.

What color of Nice n Easy did you use...your hair looks great. Are the colors pretty close to the pics on box or do you think the colors run lighter or darker? Trying to find a nice light brown color without any red or brassiness.

I used to use Nice and Easy and liked the coverage. I only have greys near my hairline but it covered really well. I was using a lighter auburn color but decided to go more vibrant red so N&E didn't have anything for me so that's the only reason I stopped using it.

Hey Karen, sorry I just saw your question....I don't remember what color I used for the pic on my siggy, I'll have to check it out when I get home.

The last two times I've used a different color than that one....and the color looks GREAT...for a few weeks..and then it's fading into this weird red color on top of my head and the ends are staying dark with a really pretty red undertone. I am guessing I need to not color my ends next time. I just wish the top wouldn't fade so much. The weird thing is, my color faded, but my little grays are still not showing.

I'm wondering if I need to suck it up and have my hairstylist color it for me. ugh.
