I have blonde healthy hair... I've been using Dark & Lovely to color my hair !! They are really good. They were designed for curly hair that can't be treated with all kind of chemicals!

They have all
Kind of colors! I used to have my hair red a couple of years ago!!! You should look up for more info of Dark & Lovely and the good part is it doesn't have amonia that damages curly hair soo much!!

OOOHHH, a GORGEOUS box color that slivola might have seen is Garnier Nutrisse Medium Intense Auburn, I believe it is number R2. I used it before I started mixing my own color, and to be honest, I've been on a hunt to get the same color myself. It's a beautiful auburn with JUST enough bright RED to make it unnatural, haha.

I really like Red Penny; it's the closest to my natural color. I like slivola's hair, but the brightness wouldn't suit me.

Please post results, jbb.

Heaven, I never thought of Dark & Lovely colors. Interesting.

I had red hair for around 3 years and all used was the Dark & Lovely line and my hair was always healthy... They have like 3 different kid of red. I used them all, so it would always look bright!

I'll check them out. I truly never thought of that option. Where did you find them? I never see the line at the usual shops: Target, CVS, Wal-hell, etc.

jbaybayy- now that you wrote "R2" for the shade, it made me remember that the woman I saw said hers was "R1" but I looked that up online and it looks much darker than hers did (maybe she was naturally a blonde?)

ninja dog- my brightness is from the aveda madder red color conditioner. I can't see to find a hair dye where I start off with that color though. My hair dye combo is actually a coppery dark red- very natural looking until I start using the conditioner again. The pic on the left of my 3 signature pics is how it looks right after I color.

P.S. jbaybayy- I forgot to ask you, since you've used the Garnier medium light auburn R2. I just saw the box- wow, amazing! I'm so tempted to try this, but do you know what color level the dye is? I like to stay with level 5 or darker or else my ends fade and lighten up too much in the sun after a few weeks.

ninja dog- I just remembered a color I used to use when I was more into a coppery natural look. Nice and Easy 111- natural medium auburn. I was really happy with this color for years until I decided to go BRIGHT when I turned 40!!

heaven- I didn't realize the dark & lovely line was peroxide free. But do you know if it actually lighten roots?

Sorry for the multiple conversations going on at once, everyone, haha!

slivola, I couldn't find that information...darn box dyes! I looked at the Sally's website and found a L'Oreal color called medium intense auburn red, and it's a MR4. The color looks pretty darn close, too. I think I'll buy it and let you all know how it turns out, if it's similar to the box dye, etc. I'll post pictures, of course!

Yes, please.

I don't really understand or go by the numbers. All I know is that the best color for me is a 7. Not sure what that means, if anything. I'll look at the Clairol color you described, slivola.

I went to Sally's today! Checked out a couple boxes, but didn't buy anything! I still can't decide between my the flaming red or a darker one! (:
I plan on coloring this weekend if I have time!

Heaven88- I'm impressed the dark & lovely peroxide free dye lightens your hair from brown to blonde! I will check out that line.

jbaybayy- yes, many topics going but it's all good! I can't wait to hear about the color you described. Sounds just like what I'm looking for. Please keep us posted!

Maddiexo- which brand/colors at Sally's were you looking at?

ninja dog- you might like the nice and easy 111 because I think it's a level 7. It's very hard to find out the level from box dyes- I remember having to call the toll free number on the box to inquire. After a while, the 7 started getting too light for me because I live in Southern CA and I also decided I wanted to go darker. Pretty much the numbers correspond to how many levels you want to lighten your hair. So the darkest black is like a level 1 all the way up to really, really light blonde like platinum which would be a 10. Hope that helps!

I saw a Clairol Reds Auburnin' I liked, but not sure if it's still made. The 111 was too brown for me. I'm the color of a penny, slightly used (that sounds weird.......). Thank you, though!
