low-poo & condish for dyed hair

Since I've decided to give (modified) CG another try, I'd like to know which low-poos and conditioners my fellow hair dyers use.

I'm currently using yes to cucumbers for color treated hair and shea moisture curl & shine shampoo. I'm going to switch to the moisture retention shampoo, though. I'm also thinking about getting a CurlGenie profile done as I'm impatient and don't want to become a PJ! I have amassed a few products recently, though.

Do any of you use products specifically for color treated hair? Does it make a difference?

TIA!!
About once or twice a month I use the Loreal EverPure shampoo to make sure I don't have any build up going on. It does feel a little drying to me (which is not a regular problem for my hair), so I follow that with the Sally's generic version of Biolage Conditioning Balm and let that sit for a few minutes.
Hairtype: 3a/b, normal elasticity, low porosity, medium thick & fine- my hair can't get enough protein!

*****HG Routine*****
Cleanse: Care Cure Conditioner
LI: Biolage Conditioning Balm (not very often used anymore, really)
Styling: Eco Style Protein Gel and a diffuser (pixiecurl method).

I dye with L'Oreal Preference which is a permanent dye and definitely damaging to hair but I need it to cover my color-resistant grays.

When I dye my hair I use Deva Lo Poo and I do two serious scrubs and rinsing to make sure I get out the color. I wish I didn't have to do such heavy duty scrubbing because it tangles my hair, but I don't want to leave any of that color on my hair or scalp - not healthy.

I just bought Curl Junkie Curl Rehab Moisturizing Hair Treatment (conditioner) and I'm going to try using that after I use the Deva Lo Poo because I've been using it as my daily conditioner and it is the best I've ever used. It can be used as a daily or a deep conditioner depending on how long it is left on.

Sometimes during the week I use the Deva Lo Poo instead of just conditioner washing - depends on whether I've been working out and sweating, etc. I can't say whether the Deva Lo Poo is great or not - it does the job OK and I haven't tried any other lo poo. I think the most important thing is to use a great conditioner.

Another great conditioner is La Coupe Silky Smooth which was rated #1 in the Conditioner Chronicles (here on nc.com) and it is in drugstores but it contains amodimethicone, so I don't use that unless I am planning to lo poo the next time I wash. The Curl Junkie mentioned above seems just as good and doesn't have a cone.

Also, I do a protein treatment during the week before I dye my hair. I've been using Nexxus Emergencee which definitely helps my curls be bouncy, but like most protein treatments it can make hair stiff. So I bought Curl Junkie Repair Me which is a protein treatment that supposedly doesn't make one's hair stiff. I'm trying very hard not to be a pj either (LOL) but my hair has been looking so great since I started using the Curl Junkie products that I bought these two - the conditioner and protein treatment.

It helps a lot to order samples from Kathymack who is on this board. Her samples come quickly, they are all between $2-4 dollars and that way I avoid being a PJ because I can try out a lot of different formulations and not waste a bundle. A lot of us have gone that route - I recommend it. You need pm her. If you want to do that and can't figure out how, go ahead and pm me or post a thread directly to Kathymack on the general board.

I hope that helps!
2/c and some 3A. Modified CG.
Protein sensitive
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Conditioners: Curl Junkie Beauticurls Strengthening Conditioner,
Deep condish: Curl Junkie Curl Rehab
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift
Musical, I've been thinking about trying the gvp conditioning balm so thanks for pushing me in that direction. I haven't really wanted to try Everpure because I need moisture. Wearing wool hats in the winter left me with a really dry/frizzy crown and I'm trying to fight it still. Thank you!

Curlypearl, I think I will try the samples first! I've read great things about all your recommendations on the other forums, too, and it's good to hear that other dyed curlies use them with success. Right now, I want to leave all the cones behind.

I've dyed my hair with permanent color, too, for a decade, though not very consistently (because I originally wanted blue hair, but it never happened. lol ). It's time to pamper it! I still poo my hair daily, though. Unless it's the weekend, I don't feel comfortable not washing it. Plus I find it easier/faster to start with fresh hair... and second day hair for me always means a ponytail. LOL Anyway, I'll pm Kathymack. Thanks so much!!
