How does Tea Tree Oil affect colored hair?

I usually use tea tree oil in my co-wash (about 15 drops in a cup or cup and a half of conditioner) because I have dry, itchy scalp but I've been wanting to color my hair for awhile but I haven't because I remember reading somewhere that tea tree oil can fade color. So, I was wondering if it really does? Have any of you had this experience before? I hope one of you can help me so I can finally dye my hair!

Thanks in advance!

I also use extra virgin olive oil.....will that make color fade too? I remember also reading that all (or most?) oils will cause the color to fade.
