I've been thinking about coloring my mostly gray hair, but as I'd rather look old than die of cancer, I'm only considering herbal dyes. Seems the powedered versions take a LOT of work. I mean hats off to all who do all that, but it's not for me.

The only premixed herbal hair color I've seen is the German Logona cream that comes in tubes. It used to be hard to find, but now you can get it from drugstore.com. The one thing I'm not crazy about is that the 2nd ingredient after water is alcohol (regular alchohol, not the fatty acid kind), and right after that is glycerin. I guess I can wash out the glycerin, but so much alcohol makes me worry about damaging my hair.

I've got two questions: How to keep this permanently staining product from the forehead, ears and neck, etc. (same problem for all vegetable dyes, I guess)? and Could anyone who has used it tell me how they felt about the results?

New Edit: I see that there's another pre-mixed henna-based hair color available--Surya Cream Henna Hair Color--but it has lots of the same dangerous synthetic colors in it that standard hair colors do along w/ the henna.
Problem hair: No longer too porous (yay!). 2c/3a w/ lots of natural kinkiness (natural crimping) so resistant to forming defined curls, med. texture, but thinning since Sept. 2011 due to autoimmune illness.
