I have found that when I buy overthecounter hair dye that my hair feels really thick, and dry. And the color never comes out the way I want it. I know go to a salon a have it done because she can lighten to the color I'm going for. I generally use a professional when it comes to dyeing. I am terrible at that. But my hair feels soft when I have her to do it. My hair type is 4/a. Good Luck
I just done a Henna on my hair and I love the brownish red color It turned out. My hair is a natural dark brown. You can not specify an exact color when deciding to use henna. You will not know the outcome until its done. I would certainly recommend going that route opposed to chemicals. Expect some possible damage if you decide to go with putting chemicals in your hair
Is it possible for you to do a strand test with henna before doing it on the full head of hair? I didn't have a good experience with henna (although it seems most people like it) so if you can try it on one strand, that would help. My hair is greying so that might have been why the henna didn't work on me - I got orange hair.
Good luck and let us know the results!
