Ok, a little back story.

Right now, my hair is dyed medium brown with dark blonde high lights. I naturally have dark brown hair with a lot of red tones in it.

I want to dye my hair an all over red color, similar to mahogany (not shocking red, more reddish brown with very rich tones), similar to this box dye

However, I know from perusing blogs everyone says you get the best results if you go to a store like Sally Beauty and purchase dye/developer there, but I am so overwhelmed by the choices/fillers/add-ons, I was wondering if anyone had any kernels of wisdom to share?

Went CG x2 before, didn't work

Now trying modified CG, starting 4.9.11

Not sure what hair type, 2c/3a...hopefully a pattern will emerge soon!
