Dyed hair back to blonde??

Hi everyone - it's been a LONG time since I've been on here. Once I found my curly girl routine, I didn't need to come back!

Anyways, about a month and a half ago, I dyed my hair red on my own using Garnier Fructis. It turned out beautiful and I loved it! It was a dark red. But I am ready to go back to being my natural color - a medium/dark blonde.

My question is, how do I do this? From what I've read, I need to "strip" my hair using some stuff from Sally's Beauty Supply that does NOT have bleach, and then re-dye my hair to a color much more similar to my own.

Is stripping my hair really really bad? Is there another way to get back to my blonde color or really close to it without doing that? I am sick of the roots and want my natural hair color back. Thanks!!

Removing artificial pigments requires bleach as far as I know. The colorist would mix it up with a shampoo... but not sure what the home products are like. If they don't have bleach I'll bet they are still damaging.

Who knows there may be something new on the market I'm not aware of.

I've used color stripper twice now. It leaves the hair an orangey yellow until you dye it another color. Dying your hair is damaging anyway. When you are ready to strip and re-dye it, make sure you have taken extra care of it until then. Lots of moisture and PTs (if your hair likes protein).
