I've always wanted to try henna but, I'm worried about getting bored with my hair color and trying to color it a different color with commercial dye and totally ruining my hair. How long is recommended between using henna and commercial dyes? Will I have to grow out my hair before I try a commercial dye? What'll happen if I don't wait the recommend time?
Cowash/Leave in- Suave naturals

I have read that you have to wait at least 3 months after uve used henna if you want to dye your hair with chemical hair dye. Don't take my word for it tho, I have never tried it, but I have a friend who did. Her hair turned out fine. Although it might have been because she dyed her hair black and her hair was really dark in the first place, so the henna only gave a red sheen to the hair.
There are some horrible stories on the internet about hair turning green after applying chemical hair dye on to hennad hair, so I wouldn't try it out on my head at first I guess =P maybe you can do a test round on hair thats been saved up in your hair brush or whatever if you do decide to use henna and you want to change it up later
As long as you use 100% pure henna powder, then yes you can use chemical dyes/treatments as you normally do. You won't have to wait months to do your chemical treatments/dyes as the hair dresser would like to tell you. Keep in mind, that the hair industry is run by major companies that push all types of chemical products. They are in no way trained, or specializing in henna, and natural hair care (for the most part). You should give your hair a break in between treatments. Roughly about 1-2 weeks.
