Default Roots came out orangey from salon!

Hi all - here is the situation. My hair is 3B. The bottom 10" of my hair was dyed black. I had it stripped bleached and toned and now it's blond. The 3" above that was bleached and then dyed blond to match the bottom. I then had 2" of virgin hair that I needed to have done. The sylist told me that color alone could lift my hair and match it to the bottom. In the salon it looked ok, but as soon as I left and it dried all the way I could tell the roots were copper/orangey. I'm scared to go back there because I'm afraid she'll mess it up even more but what would anyone recommend----- what could I do to fix it myself? Or what would another stylist do to fix it?

Go back to the salon and complain, at the very least get a partial refund.

I'd be wary of trying to fix it yourself, your hair probably needs 'resting' after such as lot of chemical treatment. The roots probably need peroxiding again, if you overlap that onto the bleached hair you could end up frying your hair at the demarcation. Roots usually take peroxide or persulphate bleach well due to the heat of your head, it's common for them to end up too light with an amateur dye job.

You could try a blue or purple shampoo or conditioner to the roots only, that can tone down brassy or gingery tones.

I ended up shelling out another $60 to get the roots bleached and toned. I've been using purple shampoo and conditioner (which aren't very moisturizing so I mix them with my regular stuff) and its been helping.

Lessons learned:

If you go into a salon and the stylist's first words to you are, "Oh are your curls a perm?" Just walk out.

If the rest of your hair needed bleach to go blond don't believe her when she says color alone will do the trick.
