Hello! I have what you guy call class 3b hair. Its Light brown and semi thick. Its a bit damaged from straightening it too many times. I've been wanting to dye my hair a pastel lavender/purple like this:

What my question here is what are the effects of bleaching my hair this white?
Damage, and if your hair is already heat damaged, it will only do more damage. Weakening your hair, breakage, split ends, shedding. Etc.
Welcome!

Bleaching even healthy hair to white is very high risk for severe damage, you have to destroy all the melanin pigment. Persulphate bleach is not fussy, it happily also eats at your hair's structural proteins and dissolves the fatty layer holding the cuticle together. If your hair is already damaged by heat styling, you are practically guaranteed straw, gummy/ stretchy or snapping off hair. A lot of people with platinum or pastel hair use extensions, they cannot grow their natural hair as long as that photograph.

IMO spend some months growing out the worst of the current damage, baby your hair with products containing coconut oil, hydrolysed protein, ceramides, 18-MEA and panthenol. Don't heat style, comb super gently, use protective styling, religiously cover when in the sun, run strand tests on shed plughole hair before you touch your head, bleach over the top of coconut oil and include hydrolysed protein in your mix.
