Default Coconut oil and bleach

Wondering how I would go about doing the coconut oil soak before bleaching. Do you wash it out after you let it soak in the hair overnight or a few hours? Do I just leave it on and then bleach my hair? I have long roots and I am a veggie dye girl and it wont cover unless your hair is really light. I am either going green or back to my normal pink which I have carried for over three years. I have been CG for about four months now, having only washed my hair twice because of some nasty product build up. I was just wondering if I had to wash the oil out before hand or leave it in. I dont want a heavy oil coating because I need to let my hair get somewhat blonde. I am at a magenta pink right now with a faded red underneath and under that is a light light brown. I didnt bleach my hair the last time that we reapplied the pink however the red was faded so much that it was a pale pink. It covered well but it was not as bright as I would normally like it to be. I like that blaring, bright pink. If someone has a link for a walkthrough or something, I just needed to know if you left the oil in or wash it out? I appreciate it gals and guys!!

Wow! Stop!

If your hair is stained pink or another colour then you have used an alkaline product to get it that colour.

It doesn't matter whether the product was natural or man-made.

Using bleach on top of it will cause your hair to get very porous and snap at the ends.

I suggest you go to a stylist and talk to them about about bleaching your hair on top of dye. If you can't afford that then at least cut of the old hair if you wish to bleach it the new growth.

I use veggie dyes like special effects and manic panic,my hair is not snapping or breaking off. It is amazing condition. The hair has to be somewhat porous too soak the color in better, can't afford to pay 80 bucks for a bleach job ATM.

When I got my hair bleached (highlights), it took forevvveeerrrrr for the bleach to do its thing with coconut oil on my hair. My stylist said it was a good thing, but she had to leave it on significantly longer than she would have normally. My hair was still very damaged from it.

Bleach right over the top after a few hours soaking. Coconut oil does not stop the bleach working, in fact some claim it processes faster.

Run strand tests on shed plug hole hair for confidence.

I had the same experience. The bleach takes much longer to penetrate and work with coconut oil on. Although I did notice that it was not as damaged as it had been in the past when I used bleach alone. Still damaged though, just not as much.
