Just checking. I don't care if only one other person comes. I'll be there. Heck if no one comes I will be at Nordstrom that day no matter what. I need some stuff only that store has.

I have had a slight change of plans and *might* be able to make it.

If someone who is attending checks this thread again, can you PM me a cell number or something I could reach y'all on if I was trying to find you at Nordstrom's, say, around 3ish?

CurlyPuddin, I am gonna PM you. How old is your son? Mine is 5.5, and dd just turned 4. Don't know whether they and my sister would come with me, or whether she'd babysit. I'm taking tomorrow off still, so I'll try to check back tomorrow night from my sister's place.

TIA! And have a great time, with or without me!

Well, guess what. I can't come now. My sister-in-law has decided to come up from Georgia for the weekend. I would normally blow her off for the late notice, but my kids don't get to see their cousins more than once a year. Also, my husband's car isn't running so we are down to one car. So we will be attending an impromptu family gathering. I'm so sorry. Nappybychoice, we can get together, and anyone else who wants to. I'm pretty bummed.

I was running late Since I didn't have any cell numbers I didn't have anyway to contact anyone. I did show up. My son and I ate in the Cafe. I guess we will just have to try another time.

That's okay. I got there a little late, too. But then I got lost in the building and was confused about where to go. I stared at every curly until I ran into Portae and we ate together and walked around downtown.

I'm so sorry it didn't work this time. I hope we can plan another one and we all can get together. Believe me, I would have rather been with you guys.

I am so upset I missed you guys. this was going to be the highlight of my weekend. Today totally sucked. I shopped and that didn't even make me happy. And tomorrow is supposed to be the hotest day of the year

What time did the two who made it get there?
Next time we have to be better prepared - like with pictures and phone numbers. I was there for 45 minutes standing outside of the cafe. I had to take the Metra (55 m) each way plus an earlier train to get there on time. I understand that things can happen lat minute, but it was very frustrating to rush downtown, wait, and come home with my tail between my legs - especially when I had been looking forward to this for so long.

Well I feel exctly the same way. We didn't make it until hmm almost 2:45. I should have taken the train. I drove and there was traffic. I live almost in Wisc.

Yes we do need to be better prepared. Cell numbers pictures and maybe some place we can have a reservation, so if people are late they can just say they are looking for such and such party.

UGH. This really bothered me all weekend

I was ABSOLUTELY lost. I had no idea that the place was a mall. I got there close to 2:30, and wandered around for another good twenty minutes. When I ran into Portae (and I only recognized her because she was looking at a map I was sitting by, and she looked lost too) we sat down. Then she walked around downstairs looking for more lost curlies and I did the same upstairs. It was a few minutes to 3 when we found the "cafe" inside the store. Then we searched around in there, and finally to just settle down in the outside cafeteria place and ate.

I was disappointed, too. Maybe next time we can pick a restaurant that is in its own building. And leave numbers to call. BTW, I don't have a cell phone. But maybe we can tell each other what we're wearing or something. Not that this is relevant now, but I had on black, and was lugging around a big bag of goodies. Oh well.

I arrived at about 2:10. I know that we were supposed to meet in the Nordstrom's Cafe, but there are also about 3 or 4 other cafes in Nordstrom's. I wandered around for half an hour, looking in the Nordstrom's Expresso Bar and the 4th floor cafes. By the time I finally found what I thought was the right place, L'n Z and I didn't see anyone. Was it the cafe in the middle of the women's department on the 4th floor? Next time, we should try and pick a very specific place, and give lots of details about where it is.

OH MY GOD!!! I'm so sorry things didn't go well. I feel really bad. Please, let's plan another one and I agree, be a little better prepared. I hope this incident doesn't discourage anyone from wanting to participate in a gathering in the future.

CurlyPuddin, did you end up breaking down and getting your son a toy?

LOL, no actually he didn't even ask. I didn't have to bribe him with toys like I thought. He got some shoes in Nordstrom (the sale is EXCELLENT) and a ballon, which kept him entertained. Then we were at the M A C counter and all of the women were making a fuss over him and he liked that. He was trying to convince the girl working on me to give me red lipstick. Red is his favorite color. If it makes me look like a working girl he doesnt mind

Default Chicago curly-girl gathering?

Sunnygirl posted an interest in a gathering of Chicago curlies but no one has taken her up on the offer...yet. So I am posting this in an OLD topic in hopes that those of you that gathered before may somehow see this and take in some new curlies.
