Why buy from CurlMart?

I am wondering, what is the reasoning for using CurlMart over buying direct from the Brand website?
The prices seem to be the same at CurlMart as they are on the Brand sites.
CurlMart doesn't offer free shipping until you reach $60. I don't think I've ever spent over $60 on hair products at one time, so there is no benefit there.
If I buy something from a brand site (such as Jessicurl) there is often a free sample included, and I love to try new things if they are free!

Am I missing something? I fail to see the benefit of using CurlMart to purchase products.
Perhaps some of you lovely PJ's can enlighten me to the reasoning behind buying from CurlMart.

The reason I used curlmart was because they have several different brands on one site which saved me from paying seperate shipping costs. Curlmart also has free samples with every order. You can also always find a sale going on

I used curlmart once. Customer service was great and I like the variety but their shipping is high as heck! I would rathe order directly from the brand. I was gng to order during their Grey Friday sale which was 25% off, but the shipping was more than what the discount took off! To be honest, I get everything I need from the swap boards lol.

Yeah shipping is ridiculous. I just wait until the big holiday sales are going on and order from various brands. I usually get free shipping and a discount.

curlyberry 01-08-2012 11:22 PM

Like some people have said, I only use curlmart to buy products from various brands. If I'm only interested in buying products from one particular brand, then I will buy it from the original vendor. I also use curlmart if other sites have ran out of a particular product.

Agreed! I've only used Curlmart once or twice over the years. The shipping is unacceptable even with discounts! I just recently bought something from the vendor's website because even with 25% off from Curlmart the shipping was so expensive it still came out to more than the vendor.

They should consider shipping by weight for one or smaller items versus $9.00+ flat rates. I think if you're ordering lots of products from different vendors it may not be so bad but for one item....uhm, no. Why would I pay $9.00 to ship something I that only costs $8.00?

Also, free shipping should be offered for orders $25.00 and up.

It's a good thing buyers have options now such as Sagenaturalceuticals and AveYou who offer much better shipping rates and a decent selection of vendors.

Starmie 01-15-2012 03:32 AM

I've used it in the past because a lot of the brand websites don't ship overseas so I have limited options. That said, I've stopped getting stuff from there as the shipping is, unfortunately, out of my comfort zone!
I can buy some things I like from iherb where shipping is $4 up to a certain weight (can't remember the weight but I can get three or four bottles generally) so I don't understand why other places can't do that. I'm guessing there's some reason but who knows?

Juliebean2012 02-27-2012 06:00 PM

This is my first time here, so I have yet to further explore. However, I've been learning lately that in general when making purchases you sometimes only get what you pay for, and sometimes not even that! I say choose wisely, and sometimes buying too cheap is not worth it.

IamDonna 02-27-2012 08:42 PM

I guess I'm in the minority here. I like Curlmart and always get free shipping. I order the same 2 items regularly costing $60 free ship.
The products are the same price and zero shipping.
I can order both products from the same site (no separate shipping cost from CHS and Curl Junkie)

CurlMart works for me and they always include 2 free samples with every order!!http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlta...ons/icon14.gif

Hi Wavy7,

As jmitchell and IamDonna pointed out, the benefit to ordering from CurlMart is one-stop shopping and hand-picked samples! Our clerks work hard to match the samples in your order to your hair type, so you shouldn't be getting something you can't use. At CurlMart, you can bundle various products and avoid paying multiple shipping charges.

We've always worked to be a good place to find up-and-coming and hard-to-find products, and we're working on bringing 5 new brands (can't yet tell everyone what they are, sorry!) into CurlMart, so keep checking back in the coming months.

As far as shipping costs go, we aren't using shipping as a revenue stream, but we also haven't found a safe, reliable, and low-cost method of moving small or single products. I know the shipping charges are high, but we don't do the volume of shipping to qualify for discounts like some larger companies you may know. Our shipping costs are calculated by weight of the products ordered, so if you're only buying one product, you're seeing what it costs us to ship that single product with UPS.

Thanks so much for your posts and feedback, have a great day!

Why buy from curlmart?

G'day Carlsruhe Here,
I agree with all of you esp CurlyCurly. As i recently posted a request for CM to open in a salon in Australia due to the high as hell shipping rates. It amazes me how CM just justification over flamable orders but does not answer directly why other products cannot be shipped at a flat rate. I would love to try multipule products - but can you emagine the shipping costs to Australia- dame ridiculous!
I think everyone who is a member of NC should complain or start a campain about the over pricing off there shipping.
Sincerely

Have a bonza day anyway!!!

I don't buy from CM unless there is a free shipping offer anymore because, even stateside they have the highest shipping rates out there. I can get stuff straight from the companies, or Amazon or Aveyou for WAY less shipping. I've never been able to use a sample because they are almost always high silicone products. It's a nice service in theory and I wish I could support it more because I appreciate the site and the forum but I can't see the shipping costs.

I've always gotten the same samples for the most part. And mostly L'Oreal, which I hate. I have L'Oreal samples coming out my ears. Outside of that, they are usually silicone products. I hate to say it but the samples are not a lure after one's first 3 purchases because you get the same stuff time and again and most of it nothing I want. I don't know how others do 5$ shipping if shipping by weight is so much. There is no keeping of order history so I can't go back and look but I am certain even just single bottles of something have been 9$ to ship and I can hardly believe that.

SmilingElephant 04-09-2014 04:25 PM

Yeah....same here. I actually haven't ordered anything online in a VERY long time.

I've been very patient on waiting for all the curly product lines to hit store shelves :-) That has helped a lot.

These little 15% 20% discounts honestly ain't SQUAT!!! When i start seeing 30%, 45% discounts on the whole purchase maybe I'll buy more from places online.

Although receiving a package in the mail is a thrill...Im fine with just going to the store and paying my tax. :)

I'm ok with those as it covers the shipping and that's par for any site.

Spiralli 04-10-2014 12:39 PM

About a month ago, I made my first purchase in years from CurlMart. I stayed away due to the shipping costs. Last month I got 3 full-size products and shipping was $6.15 via USPS. I can live with that, since I know I wouldn't have paid only $2.00+ in shipping from each of the 3 separate brand websites.

However, I still don't understand why USPS flat-rate shipping isn't used for larger orders that certainly qualify and fit into "if it fits, it ships" flat rate boxes.

chupie 04-10-2014 01:01 PM

I'm almost positive my shipping has not been that low but maybe I'll have to try again.

Spiralli 04-10-2014 01:10 PM

I wonder if it's by USPS zone...I'm in TX and so is CurlMart, so maybe that's why my rate was lower. Still, flat-rate should be an option for everyone in the US. It takes the same effort to pack a flat-rate box as it does any other box.

Xhexania 05-26-2014 08:58 PM

I'd like to order form the CurlMart, but I've heard that the shipping is killer. I never order in bulk, so I'd likely be paying more for shipping than for any actual product that I ordered.

ashkins09 05-27-2014 09:13 AM

Hmm. My shipping has always been around 6$ for a few things. It takes 3-4 days to get my products. I rarely have the funds to buy hair stuff but when I do its always around when sales are going around. If I'm buying from one company I'll go to their website instead of curlmart. I can make my products last a long time so price doesn't really bother me.
