Default New Deva/Guar HC

Del and curlies,
I don't even think I have the new formula yet. I have a bottle that is just under half full and I bought a new bottle a couple of days ago, I checked it out on my hand before leaving Ulta. I may exchange that for DevaCare, but now I am afraid of anything Deva especially because its so expensive and I have the perfect curl right now. I was saying that I have used other products with the Guar HC,namely Alba Botanica and Curls, and found it drying, like bird nest drying. This was the main ingredient difference in the formula's. I have also seen other's have this posted to their sites/blogs that it seems to be drying. I have 4a hair with med/high porosity. Even if I put more than a quarter size of the Deva w/A-cone it gets all weird and tacky feeling. They should have just let it be! Instead of alienating a few customers because of the A-cone they are going to lose a lot more for fear of it messing up their hair or due to inferior ingredients for such a high price."If it ain't broke don't fix it!"

Default GRETCHEN -- question

in your original message you wrote that shari said she would get you the new ingredients for the devaCARE one c. has she sent you those yet?
i am asking because the new devacurl one c unfortunately fried my hair, and i am currently using the devacare one c until i find a new conditioner.
if the new devaCARE one c also contains guar hc, i will stop using it immediately as i won't know which bottle i have, and guar hc destroys my hair totally. i don't want to go through this twice.
it's been some time since shari told you that, so i am hoping at this point there is more info, specifically:

-are they changing the devaCARE one c formula?
-will there still be old labels on the new formula?
-when did they change it/or will they change the formula?
-AND, what are the new ingredients?

thank you, gretchen! i and my hair appreciate your help in this.

It would be great to get clarification as to whether all of the Deva product lines are going through the ingredient change with One-C (original Curl, also Care, Blonde, etc.).

Question Any news since last post?

Hi ladies

I am sorry if this topic has moved or something, but IŽd really need to know if thereŽs been any updates on the One-C formula problem?

I have just bought a big bottle of it, because I thought by now all this would have been sorted out. But it turns out the lable on my bottle still mentions the silicone.

So I am now totally lost ...
Does anybody know if there is any news?
TIA...

I can't use the new formulation of Devacare One C. It totally wrecked my hair. I'm trying to get it back in shape now.

A long time ago, I mistakenly ordered DevaCURL One C instead of CARE and had trouble. IIRC, the only ingredient missing in CURL was Orange Peel Wax and it seemed to make a big difference to my hair.

I wonder if Deva would consider going back to the old formula if the new one caused enough people trouble.

I know how to tell if Deva products have the old or new ingredients.

The newest bottles have info. about finding Deva on You Tube and referring to the book Curly Girl. The old ingredient bottles don't have that additional info.

DevaCurl No Poo ingredients have totally changed. My Ulta had one old bottle and all the rest new.

I hope Curl Mart changes their ingredient listings to the new ingredients (assuming they have the newest versions for sale).

Is the beeswax gone from Set It Free? My Ulta was out of stock.

No Poo now has glycerin and cocamidopropyl betaine in it. I never tried the old version of it, but am loving the new version!

Default cocamidopropyl betaine in NO poo????

isn't cocamidopropyl betaine what is in low poo and makes it a poo????? it's a surfactant. so, how can they put that in a NO poo? i know lots of conditioners contain very mild surfactants, but i don't know if i want to use cocamidopropyl betaine every day as i was using no poo.

Jessicurl's Hair Cleanising Cream has it as well: Water, Decyl Polyglucose, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Vegetable Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Avocado Oil, C 12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Hydrolized Oat Flour, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynl Butylcarboamate, Fragrance. The newest ingredients for Deva's products aren't listed yet her on NC, but it's in there. My Ulta still has the old verions in the full size. However, in a Deva Curl travel-size pack I bought there, the ingredients (and some scents) have totally changed. No Poo also now has glycerin. (Personally, I think they copied off of Jessicurl). You can tell right away if you have the new version because those labels list info about Deva's videos on You Tube and the Curly Girl book.

I accept with information:what Deva is doing with their labels is not unusual. In fact, it is standard (though the legality of it from an FDA standpoint is still a little murky). Whenever a formulation changes, there's a brief period when labels and contents are not in total alignment.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I bought a bottle of One C today and the label was up to date. It had the new list of ingredients on it, and like wiggilyhair said, it has info about the curly girl book and their youtube videos.

Default One year later...

I bought a bottle of OneCondition at ULTA two weeks ago - a year and a half after this forum began - and it was the new formula with the old label. I first noticed that the bottle did not have a pump top, and my pump from my old bottle did not fit on the new one. Then I showered and IMMEDIATELY noticed a formula difference. The conditioner was thin and watery. I had to use double the amount in order to detangle my hair. When I got out of the shower I put my old bottle next to the new one and went through the ingredients one by one, and was shocked to see that nothing had changed. I posted in the product forum, but didn't find this until another poster was kind enough to point me here! Annoyingly enough, I posed the question on the DevaCurl Facebook wall, and the person who answers for them acted confused and said it must be a fluke and to exchange the bottle. I am very disappointed in the company, and fear that the other products I use, Low Poo and Set It Free, will soon change as well. I need a new conditioner, STAT!

Ulta stores have it, well at least where i live.

really hope companies will just give a shout to NC and put up a notice on their websites. to save up thread space.
