Back to Basics?

Hi Gretchen!
With my recent Curlmart order, you guys sent me an 8 oz. tube of Back to Basics Curl Activating Gel for free and I am soo loving it! I thought you guys would sell it in the Curlmart because I want to buy some! Will you be selling it? If not, do you know where I can find it? Thanks for everything you do for us curlies!

Tracy

I second tooj68's love of the Back to Basics Curl Activating Gel -- it would be great to be able to buy it from CurlMart (now that you've got me addicted to it!). Thanks!

Gretchen 06-29-2006 07:48 AM

I'm not sure they'll let us sell it but we'll check!

tooj68 06-29-2006 11:16 AM

Yay!

Thanks for checking into it Gretchen!
That would be great! It's a fantastic product and CG friendly too! :D

3rd, Me too! I'd love to buy back to basics from CurlMart!!

gryantmarch2step 08-07-2006 01:47 PM

Can someone post a picture of what it looks like?

tooj68 08-07-2006 06:44 PM

I'm sooooooo not good at posting pics and that kind of computer-tech stuff, but I can describe it:

it comes in a dark purple tube and it stands up like a tube of kid's toothpaste (if that makes ANY sense  ) It smells grapey and fruitish and definitely encourages well-formed clumpy ringlets. I have some if you'd like a sample. I bought a couple of tubes on Ebay.

I am such a PJ!!! Really bad!

Here is a link to the back to basics site & a pic of the gel...I just got some today and am going to try it again. I swapped it after like 1 try and am hoping to have the same if not better results this time around!

We can't sell it, alas. It's salon-only.

So...I just realized that I bought the Firm Hold Gel instead of the curl activating gel. Does anyone know if the firm hold gel is CG?

http://www.backtobasics.com/styling/firmholdgel.php

I'm searching for the ingredients on the net, so I don't have to type them out.

gryantmarch2step 09-20-2006 02:53 PM

Anyone use this gel?

hockeymomof3 09-20-2006 04:54 PM

I just read the ingredients of this gel at the walmart salon and it has a water-soluble cone (peg-dimethicone). I believe that still would make it CG.

gryantmarch2step 09-20-2006 05:21 PM

Hockeymom, I think you're right. I'm typing them out just in case!!

Water (EAU), VP/VA COPOLYMER, PVP, PEG-40 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, CARBOMER, GLYCERIN, POLYSORBATE 20, PEG-4 DILAURATE, PEG-4 LAURATE, PARFUM, PANTHENOL, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, PEG-4, IODOPROPYNYL BUTYLCARBAMATE, LAURTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE, BENZOPHENONE-4, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA BUTTER), ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE, PEG-12 DIMETHICONE, SORBITOL, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, CAMELLIA SINSIS LEAF EXTRACT, METHYLPARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN

Anything with PEG and then a number, I believe means it's water soluble. What is hyrogenated castor oil?

gryantmarch2step 09-25-2006 04:44 PM

bumping...

Would anyone like to chime in on the Back to Basics Firm Hold Gel? Still trying to get confirmation on the CG status. :D
