So sorry for the delay in responding! It's been a crazy week.

Yes, I think if you get a kettlebell or 2 and a reputable DVD you will be happy. If you Google Lauren Brooks and kettlebells you should be able to find her store. She has a couple of videos now. And in the previews for the videos you can see how many bells you'll need. If memory serves, I think in one of the videos she uses 2 18lb. bells for some renegade rows (pushups on top of kettlebells). I also think she uses a 26lb. bell for swings. I think an 18lb bell is perfect to start with, but it will become too light for 2 handed swings fairly quickly, so you may end up buying more kettlebells later on.

I know I argued upthread about the benefits of competition kettlebells (the smooth round gumbell-looking bells) versus the smaller, black, flat-sided bells, but I think since the flat sided bells are smaller, it's easier to use 2 at once. So if you were going to get 2 18lb bells, you have the option of getting smaller-sized ones.

All of this may be a little confusing... let me know if you have questions! The short answer is, yes! Get a kettlebell and a video and start having fun!

You might search around on Crossfit.com for some ideas, they use kb's in workout (but heavier ones -25# for women)

I'm going to check out these links...I've been using the 18 and 26 pound kettlebells at the gym and I'd like to get a heavier bell to use at home.

I just bought a 15 lb kettlebell and the Lauren Brooks DVD before I found this thread. I've been advised to work on strengthening my glutes to help mitigate my chronic low back pain. My physical therapist is going to help me learn the correct form with the kettlebells. Who's still kettlebell -ing?

I still am, however sporadically. I've had a lot of work travel and some old injuries preventing me from working out regularly. I have to get some physical therapy for my back, and I was thinking about asking how I can use kettlebells for that issue--maybe light ones!

Have fun and let us know how it goes!

I am! I'm up to the 97 pound kettlebell for squats and deadlifts and a 35 pound bell for swings.
