30 Day Shred, aka Training For the Zombie Apocalypse

Like Tree65Likes

3 days, no shred and my knees and back are still a little sore. Hopefully I'll pick it up again tomorrow.

I really need to start jogging. I'm telling myself that once both kids start school in the fall I'll have more time to stick with it.

Iroc I didn't shred Sat or Sun either.

My husband planned an all day surprise outing at Sea World Sat then Sun I spent the morning recovering and the afternoon at Disney.

I feel a cold coming on but I plan to shred today while the little one naps

I'm also going to look into ordering some weights off amazon. Shopping online is easier for me then getting to the store, especially since I went to Target Friday and walked out without weights!!
Ah, it all makes sense now. Goldy is the puppet master!

You all are making me interested in other workout DVDs by the monster, err I mean Jillian

I was thinking to do a 60 day shred, with 20 days at each level but now hmmm.. Maybe I'll stick to the 60 plan then looked into ripped or another?!

I guess I should have researched the video more thoroughly-- it would have made me feel better to know that the results are usually in inches lost, not weight lost.

I need to lose ~35 pounds total, so I guess I'm just being impatient with my progress.

I'm trying to go by how I look, how I feel, and how my clothes fit. I've had a real battle with the scale and I always want to see 3lbs lost in a week and that just doesn't happen and then I end up feeling like I let myself down.

App Store - C25K

The app is really helpful! I love that I can use it and play my music or my audio books at the same time. There's an 8 week program in this app but I think I'm going to do every week twice before I move onto the next week.

If any of you all want to try the C25K thing I can make a thread
Thanks green jumper. I'll check it out.

I'm tired. My throat hurts. My nose is a bit runny. I know 20 min won't kill me & I can't skip today too!

Are you all familiar with Hal Higdon's 30-30 plan? It's a slow ease into running. Depending on how you do it, it may be slower than C25K.

I did both today (back to back). I don't think I'm going to be able to keep that up though. I had today off so I wasn't as tired as I'd usually be and it was still really hard. I did 30DS second and I really had a tough time giving it my all.
I don't have time to do more than one exercise routine. Anything more than 20-30 minutes just won't get done on a daily basis. Not with 2 small children home.

I'm starting to notice that working out in the evening is keeping me up late at night. I don't have the energy to work out right when I get home, I need a lil chill time before I get my workout started.

Is there anyway to combat this?

Plenty of people go straight to the gym after work.

Did 40 min on the treadmill with the alternating 6 min walk, 6 min run. Didn't try to do 6, but I kept going over in time w my walks, so I had to match it in the run.

My walks are about 3.8 to 4 MPH. My runs are 6 MPH. My last minute was hard so I cranked it up to 7 MPH.

I'm sweating balls right now.

bellavida, I wish I had some advice for you. Is it possible for you to do it in the morning and just have it out of the way for the day? My issue is I wish I could just roll out of bed and get it done, but I'm so groggy for so long after getting up that I'd probably injure myself trying that. LOL

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.
I wish I could just roll out of bed in the mornings and work out too. I am not a morning person. I'm just going to have to force myself to do it after I get home from work.
Are we all not shredding?

I've been sick & worked Wed and Thurs nights. I've had intentions to shred but haven't. I will today

I'm still doing level 1, did that three times this week and did pilates and treadmill the other two days.

I guess I feel like reporting that I did it is not very motivating to anyone else since I'm just doing level 1.

I've just been so exhausted and running around doing a million things. I also got 2hours of sleep on Tuesday night so that messed up my energy level for the entire week.

I have still been doing C25K though! Yippee!!!

Level 2 is just (literally and figuratively) on a whole other level for me. Level 1 was doable but a real workout. Level 2 is just rough rough rough! I can do it but it's a struggle 2 minutes after the warm-up ends.
I know they say no pain no gain but Geez!

I plan to sleep in tomorrow, get my sleep debt all caught up, then wake up, do C25K, take a 20 minute break, and start Level 2 of 30DS again!
No, I haven't. I did a few days of level 3, and the jumps were too high intending my back. Having a bad back, I get scared quick when my back starts hurting. I waited a week before I started on the treadmill.

I've been doing the 5 min walk/5 min run interval for 40 minutes daily (minus yesterday).
