I wish I could run for five minutes, that would be awesome. Maybe one day.

The amount of time from slipping on the peel and landing on the pavement is exactly one bananosecond.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.

You work up to it.

I need some really really upbeat music. And loud. I force myself to not even look at my time until the song is over. Then its about setting mini goals. Then its, 3 minutes, oh God. 2 minutes. That's only one more than a minute. No problem. Then only a minute left? A minute is nothing. I can do a minute!

Its tough. The first 5 min run is the hardest.

I definitely feel more energetic once the right song comes on. I really need to find my iPod and make a kick ass playlist. I love Pandora because it's easy and free, but sometimes I find myself skipping a ton of songs to find a good one and then they throw in a commercial because I skipped too many.

And you're right, I know if I stick with it I can build up to it. Thanks for the tips! At one point I couldn't have run for 30 seconds and at least I can go a minute and a half now, so that's something.

Do a slow jog, you have to pace yourself.

And its like death, until you get past that push point where your endurance kicks in. Its there, its just over the hump of 'i can't do this anymore.'

If you run 30 seconds, and you want to stop, say 'i can do 30 more seconds.' Then say, 'i can do just one more minute ' then after that minute say 'i can do one more minute.' And keep giving yourself mini goals.

I've always been the type of person who only runs of I'm being chased - so it can be done.

I finally started working out today! Between my grandparents health issues and the BF landing in the hospital for a week and a half I've been wiped out!

I started with p90x today. I went slow, and set a goal of doing 20 decent minutes. I actually didn't hate it! My BF already had the DVD's so I figured one of us should use them. I plan to rotate them with the 30DS until I work up to a better fitness level. I'm def. too out of shape to go whole hog on the p90x workouts but I think using both I can work up to it. I plan to follow the lean plan for now.

I took it slow and modified where I had to but got my heart moving so I know I can keep doing it, adding a bit more each day. I'm kinda excited I found the motivation. I have a lot to lose but I'm aiming for a big goal of 30lbs by my birthday (in November).

hehe You said hump.

Ok, back to the serious: I'm the same way so thank you for sharing your method. I'm definitely going to give it a go and make a goal to work my way up!

kookycurl - Awesome!! My DH did the P90X a couple years ago and I could hear him working out in the other room jumping and doing all sorts of crazy stuff. He still uses the ab ripper (I think that's what it's called) during his workouts but hasn't done all the other stuff in quite a while. I watched some of the videos and they're intense! Keep up the good work and glad you're joining us!

I did level 2 today.

Idk what it is about level 2 but it's really draining my motivation. I was so pumped up for level 1. Maybe it isn't level 2 and my excitement has just worn off.

I need to stick with it though and really commit to a diet plan. I want to start cooking healthy things and not rely on Smart Ones, Lean Cuisine, and all their cousins.

Level 2 sucks. The moves just don't flow. I mover onto level 3 sooner BC I knew I was losing motivation. Plus, the 3rd week of any exercise program is my hardest to stick with.
I only did level 2 for a little more than a week. Level 3 is faster, much more cardio but I still found it easier.

Hang in there! Don't give up! You can power through for 20 minutes! Think of how much you accomplish for doing something so tough on you!

Thanks for the encouragement! It's nice to know that other people dislike Level 2 as well.

Just curious, why is the 3rd week hardest to stick with? Is it just because people lose motivation or is there a physical reason for it?

Ok, so I'm not reporting that I did the shred even though this thread is about that (you're so vain...you probabaly think the Shred is about you...you're so vaaaain - now that stupid song is stuck in my head, why does this happen?), but just wanted to share I'm still sticking with exercising and trying to push myself more.

I walked today for an hour, ran 5 times (that adds up to a little over 5 minutes total, that counts toward my goal...right? )and did some inclines. Felt like I was dying at the end, but still did some other exercises from the Shred like crunches, bicycle crunches, arm raises, lunges, etc. I've got slight blisters on the bottom of my feet so I guess that's good, right?

Hope everyone else is doing good!

Way to go spring!
Iroc I'm impressed with your running

My "cold" kicked my butt. Coupled with me working 4 out of the past 6 nights means I've done nothing

I woke up today feeling good and don't had to go back to work so I'm planning to exercise later today. I've taken too much time off. I'm starting my count back at day 1! My birthday is 2.5 weeks away and our vacation is in 5 weeks. Time to get in gear

I've been keeping under 1300 calories, plus I did the shred for a month, and I've been doing intervals on the treadmill for 2 weeks - and today I weighed myself at the doctors (stupid mistake). Nothing. No weight loss. It was so depressing. Almost killed all my motivation.

Still managed intervals on the treadmill today.

40 minutes, 500 calories. I'm impressed with myself lately too!

Its supposed to be 30 days straight, no breaks. A little more than a week each level.

I took a break one day a week. And I stayed on level 1 for two weeks, while level 2 I did for one week and 3 days...

Shredded today. I did Level 2

I'm going to try and do Level 3 tomorrow. Level 2 is sending out repulsive signals from the DVD to my brain and if I want to stick with the program I'm going to have to take a break from it.

Hopefully Level 3 is more my speed. If not, I'll just stick to Level 1 and C25K.

I shredded today. I'm not keeping up with what day I'm on since I keep skipping days

I will move up a level when I feel ready. I still need lighter weights, the 4lb are too heavy for me for most of the exercises.

I'm doing okay decreasing my refined sugars intake. I've halved the amount of sugar I put in my coffee & have been eating less dessert

I took before pics so I might take pics in a couple weeks to see where I'm at. Seeing even just a tiny bit of improvement will help motivate me.

I may try to start a running plan soon to add into the mix.

I did this yesterday BC I wasn't in the mood to full on run. The speed doesn't go above 4mph, but the incline rate changes. Still burned a lot of calories.

I just finished another level 1 workout. I feel myself pushing harder each time, which is progress.

At the end when she says "we're right here with you" blah blah how we're in it together I muttered under my breath "except you are all in shape". Grrr.

Why must there be so many sets of jumping jacks!!?

I am squatting & lunging lower so I'm happy about that. I do really like those ab exercises too. Hopefully I'll see some real physical results soon

How is everyone else doing? How are the other JM DVDs going?
